A few months back we reached out to our friend and fellow rescuer Laurie Metzger with All Paws Rescue in St Charles, MO to help us with a 8 week old deaf boxer puppy we wanted to sponsor into rescue. Laurie Metzger is also one of our Deaf Dogs Rock volunteers who helps us keep our adoption listings current on Deaf Dogs Rock.
The Back Story on a wonderful foster family and All Paws Rescue
After we reached out to Laurie, she worked pretty fast and found a wonderful foster family in St. Charles MO to foster the little deaf boxer girl so All Paws Rescue committed to taking her in. The foster family named the little boxer “Daisy” but called her “Puppy” or as she is now referred to as “Big Puppy”. Thanks to the foster mom Sarah Anderson Schiffer Daisy had a great summer. She learned to swim in their back yard pool and Sarah’s two daughters fell head over heels in love with Daisy. The girls call Daisy “Puppy” as a nick name and soon they became Puppy’s forever home because they could not part with Daisy. They loved her so much they could not ever imagine living even one day with out their puppy so they became a failed foster family and ended up adopting Daisy. You can read more about Daisy here. Recently we asked for Laurie’s help once again for a puppy named Axl Rose.

Deaf Dogs Rock Sponsors Puppy Axl Rose Into Rescue
Recently Deaf Dogs Rock reached out to All Paws Rescue once again to sponsor another deaf puppy into rescue. At the last minute I decided to send a photo of the new deaf puppy to Sarah Schiffer (the last foster family to Daisy aka”Big Puppy”). Well as you can imagine Sarah and her daughters could not wait to foster another deaf boxer puppy. They were so excited about the prospect of fostering another deaf puppy that they decided to jump in the car and go and pick up the little 8 week old boxer puppy themselves! Family road trip! As soon as Sarah sent me a photo of the puppy when they were on the road, I decided to feature the photo on our Deaf Dogs Rock Facebook page and ask our followers for “Rocker” name suggestions for the puppy. The foster family loved all the suggestions and they picked the name “Axl Rose” but at home they still called Axl Rose “Little Puppy”until the pup’s adoptive family could officially give the puppy a new name.

The foster family’s dog Daisy and Axl Rose became fast friends and were instantly connected at the hip. In the back of my mind I thought this new deaf foster puppy might just become their SECOND foster failure. Today Axl Rose aka Little Puppy was taken by his foster family to an adoption event and there he met his new forever family. As you can see from the photo below of Axl Rose kissing his new daddy it sure looks like the perfect match!
Axl Rose officially got adopted this past weekend!
Check out Axl Rose’s new mommy and daddy April and Bob who are avid Boxer lovers. They have two other Boxers named Max and Mia. Axl’s new name will be Casper.

It is because of the financial support we receive from are amazing Deaf Dogs Rock Community that we can offer to sponsor deaf puppies like Axl Rose who may otherwise be taken to a shelter and then put to sleep. If we can establish a good network of rescues and foster homes little by little we can save even more deaf puppies from being killed in shelters across the country. Thank you to Laurie Metzger, All Paws Rescue, The Schiffer family and all of our Deaf Dogs Rock supporters for helping to save Axl Rose. According to my deaf dogs Nitro, Bud and myself, you all totally ROCK!
