Update:Daisy was returned by the man who adopted her because he decided she was just to much puppy for him and he did not have the time to spend with her so he returned her to the Schiffer’s. It worked out perfectly because Daisy was adopted by her foster family the Schiffer’s. They fell so head over heels in love with her and where very sad after she was adopted. The minute she was returned they decided as a family they could not stand to part with her. Welcome home Daisy aka “Puppy”, welcome home!
Daisy’s story: I get over 100 emails a day. Sometimes I can help get dogs and puppies into rescue and other times my only option is to list them up for adoption on DeafDogsRock.com or network them heavily on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB Page. When I get a cry for help for a puppy, I am very lucky I have some of the most dedicated rescues who I work with on a regular basis. Just the other day I had a lady contact me about a female deaf boxer puppy located in Missouri.
I know if I put a boxer puppy available for adoption on our Facebook page, the boxer puppy listed would be adopted within the first 6 hours of my post. Unfortunately when I do put a puppy up I worry because there is no screening process and the deaf puppy can be picked up by just anyone (even dog flippers who try to sell them as hearing boxer puppies). Since the woman who reached out to me who had the puppy was in Missouri, I sent Laurie Metzger (aka Dog Foster Mom) a message. She works with a rescue called All Paws Rescue. I asked her if Deaf Dogs Rock sponsored a deaf puppy to cover some of the costs if her rescue organization had room for her.
She got right back to me and said YES! Not only did Laurie and All Paws Rescue take the deaf boxer puppy but she also had a wonderful family lined up to foster her. Her new foster family named her Daisy (her nickname is Puppy). For the next few weeks I got to watch Daisy grow, take her first swim, go out and about with her new foster family. She was growing so fast. Her foster family loved her so much I didn’t think they would be able to let her go but they loved her enough To Let Her Go!
We listed her on our Deaf Dogs Rock website and within 48 hours they had an approved adopter for her. Below is a new photo of her with her new daddy Jason.
A big thank you and shout out to All Paws Rescue, Laurie Metzger, Sarah Anderson Schiffer (Daisy’s foster family) and her beautiful daughters! Because of your love and devotion Daisy is going to ROCK THIS WORLD!
