Thank you to all of our supporters who donated to Deaf Dogs Rock in the month of August 2021 to keep our mission going! Our Deaf Dogs Rock community has sponsored 25 deaf dogs/pups into rescue in the month of August 2021. So far this year our awesome Deaf Dogs Rock community/supporters has sponsored a total of 140 deaf dogs into rescue in the first seven months of 2021 which is fantastic! Thank you, thank you, thank you for continuing to support our mission to save one deaf dog at a time.
It takes a tribe of animal lovers to support Deaf Dogs Rock to continue to carry out our mission. If you would like to help sponsor a deaf dog out of a kill shelter into the safe arms of rescue, please click here to Donate.
The core mission of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program is to set up each deaf puppy/dog for success by sending them into a experienced special needs rescue where they go into a experienced deaf dog foster homes who are committed to training and socializing each deaf dog that comes into their care. This way each foster advocate gets the opportunity to live with the deaf dog, work with the deaf dog, and accurately evaluate each deaf dog/puppy to make sure the organization makes a great match for each deaf dog with the right home once the adoption screening process starts.
Deaf Dogs Rock works with shelters, rescues, private individuals and breeders to help get each deaf puppy into our Rocker Puppy sponsorship program and into rescue. By doing so, each deaf pup gets the individual training, socialization, and TLC to grow up to become a cherished member of society. Deaf Dogs Rock is a judgement free zone and our number one priority will always be to help deaf dogs and puppies get a fresh start and a chance at a great life.
When screening potential homes for a deaf dog/puppy, each partner rescue has a specific set of guidelines to follow like checking all references, talking to the applicant’s veterinarian and performing a thorough home visit to make sure each home is a safe place for a deaf or deaf/blind dog. This is why our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy is so important to set up each deaf pup for a successful happy life in their new home. Our Rocker Puppy sponsorship program financially sponsors deaf dogs/puppies so the dogs can be vaccinated and spay/neutered before they are adopted to a new family. We only work with rescue partners and advocacy organizations who are committed in making sure each deaf pup is spay/neutered before being placed in a new home. If you would like to donate to our Rocker Puppy sponsorship program, please click here.
Our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community sponsored 25 deaf dogs/pups in August 2021 which is a huge accomplishment in a struggling economy and is a record number of deaf dogs sponsored in one month.
Thanks to the financial support of our loyal Deaf Dogs Rock community, D.D.R. can continue to help deaf dogs in need. So far since our start of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program we have sponsored 1014 deaf dogs (as of 08/31/21) into rescue.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! ~ Christina Lee
Betty, Wilma, Cassie and Barney – Amazing Lethal White Aussies of Arizona Rescue
Sweet Betty and Wilma where rescued from a barn at 7 weeks old. They were filthy, smelled terrible and had no vaccinations. Our friends at Amazing Aussies Lethal White Rescue of Arizona took both pups in, bathed them, got their first set of vaccinations and they went into a loving foster home. Both girls enjoyed their first night inside on cozy beds with lots of toys. Both girls have underdeveloped eyes and are hearing impaired. Both pups will be recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Program.
Cassie
This baby is Cassie. She is a deaf puppy who came from a litter born on the streets of Phoenix AZ with a homeless person. Our friends at Amazing Aussies Lethal White rescue took in sweet Cassie to get her vetting done and send her to a loving foster home to get adjusted and learn new things. Her mama dog is a Catahoula and daddy was an Australian Shepherd.
Barney
Deaf Dogs Rock was contacted by a family in AZ who had a deaf 6 month old Aussie who had just survived Parvo. Deaf Dogs Rock reached out to our friends at Amazing Aussies Lethal White Rescue of AZ to see if they could accept a deaf Aussie puppy named Barney (aka Ozzy) who was a Parvo survivor. Many rescues will not accept a puppy who has just gotten over Parvo let alone a deaf puppy who has just gotten over Parvo. Deaf Dogs Rock offered a rescue sponsorship to make sure Barney would make it to an experienced rescue partner who could help him be the best he can be.
****We also want to thank sea glass artist Laura Cooper with Wild Flowers Seaglass art who sent a donation to Deaf Dogs Rock so we can help deaf and visually impaired pups. Because of Laura’s generosity, we were able to sponsor all three deaf pups Betty, Wilma, and Cassey. Laura participated in her very first art festival and her beautiful sea glass art sold out in the first few hours. After the festival was over Laura donated the proceeds of her art sales Laura to three rescue organizations to help animals in need.
Photo above: Laura lives with her sweet deaf beagle pictured above with one of Laura’s art pieces. Laura also lives with her sweet beagle who is deaf.
Photo above: Laura’s set up at the Art festival. Her pieces sold out in the first couple of hours so she spent the entire night making new pieces for the Sunday part of the Art festival.

Above: Albus
Speak St. Louis rescue found the other three deaf/blind puppies in the Harry Potter litter. They first found Dobby and Neville who we sponsored last month but one by one the final three puppies were found wondering in rural MO. It is a miracle they are all alive and all have ended up at our partner rescue Speak St. Louis. All tree pups Lupin, Tonks and Albus (pictured down below) will be recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Sponsorship program to help with their vetting.
Thanks also to Dr. Melissa Shapiro and Piglet the Deaf Blind Pink Puppy for donating to Deaf Dogs Rock so we can sponsor Lupin, Tonks and Albus.

Biscuits and Gravy – Happy Tails Animal Rescue OK
Biscuits and Gravy were surrendered at a vet clinic in OK and our friends at Happy Tails Animal Rescue in Edmond OK stepped in to rescue them both. Right now they are settling in at Moria Turner’s home (Director of HTAR) and will be going to a very special foster home where they can stay together for a while. Both Biscuits and Gravy will be recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy rescue sponsorship to help with their vetting.
This is a HUGE milestone for Deaf Dogs Rock. Since our rescue sponsorship program launched in 2014, we have officially sponsored 1000 deaf dogs into rescue and Biscuits and Gravy are our 999 and 1000th deaf dogs sponsored into rescue! Wow, we could not have done it without our amazing supporters so Biscuits, Gravy and our entire Deaf Dogs Rock team thanks all of you who continue to support our mission to help save one deaf dog at a time.
Groovy – Green Dogs Unleashed – Troy VA
Sweet deaf wild child Groovy found himself in a Virginia Beach Shelter through no fault of his own. Many times people buy Australian Cattle dogs and don’t do consistent daily training with them the first year so the dogs end up at the dog pound because of lack of training. We are happy to report sweet Groovy made it to Green Dogs Unleashed in Troy VA so he will get the much needed training/socialization and enrichment an ACD needs on a daily basis. Groovy will be a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Sponsorship program to help with his vetting expenses so can get ready to be adopted in the near future.
Dakota – Carolina Helping Paws Rescue – Sumter SC
When we saw Dakota’s photo on a shelter site saying how badly Dakota needed a rescue we put out a rescue plea on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page and offered a $300 rescue sponsorship. We were so happy to hear from Carolina Helping Paws Rescue in Sumter SC when they pulled Dakota to safety. We want to thank our friends Vern and Patricia Kerst for donating to our cause so we could turn around and sponsor Dakota into rescue. Thanks also to Carolina Helping Paws Rescue for taking care of Dakota and getting him vetted to match him with a loving forever home.
Pixel – Happy Tails Animal Rescue
This little girl Pixel was going to be euthanized by it’s owner because she had “to much energy” so our friends at Happy Tails Animal Rescue (HTAR) swooped her up and saved her. We are so thankful for their kindness in saving sweet deaf puppy Pixel. Now she will have the best chance at being set up for success in the future. We want to thank trainer Savannah with Savvy Dog Training and her deaf dog Sydney for helping Deaf Dogs Rock to sponsor Pixel’s vetting. Savannah is our ASL deaf dog trainer on our website and she runs Savvy Dog Training in Saint Augustine, Florida.
Mikey – DC Dogos Inc Rescue
When a person with a 8 week old deaf Dogo Argentino puppy reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock to see if we could help get the puppy into rescue we contacted our friends at DC Dogo Argentino Rescue to see if they had room for this little boy. A big thanks to Pamela and Ami for making room for sweet deaf puppy Mikey. He arrived safely at Ami’s house where he will received lots of love and vetting. Thanks to Nicole Martino and The Mightly Little Stuart Little for donating to Deaf Dogs Rock so we can help deaf puppies like Mikey and Scout (pictured below) make it into rescue.
Scout – Malinois and Dutch Rescue
When we heard about deaf Malinois puppy Scout from the Malinois and Dutch Shepherd Rescue, we wanted to help. Scout is a deaf puppy who also has ataxia and neurological deficits with some vision impairments. Scout is currently in foster care and he is improving daily. He also has bladder control problems but hopefully with time his bladder problems will get better. I know there is someone in our Deaf Dogs Rock community that would be happy to give Scout a loving home so we will be also listing him on our DDR Available Deaf Dogs for Adoption. Scout will be a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy program to help with his vetting costs and he is currently available for adoption in St. Petersuburg, FL. You can view his adoption listing here.
Blanche – Chelsea’s Hope Boxer Rescue
Sweet deaf puppy Blanche was found rolling in between cars with her little 8 pound body completely flea invested. Thanks to SWATT Rescue for getting Blanche to Chelsea’s Hope Boxer Rescue where she will be in a loving foster homes.
Tater – Happy Tails Animal Rescue – OK
Sweet little deaf puppy Tater was rejected by his mama so our friends at Happy Tails Animal Rescue took Tater into rescue where he is with Moria at her home being fostered for now. Tater won’t be available for adoption for several weeks and he still needs to have all his vaccinations and vetting done. Tater will be a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship fund to help HTAR continue to take special needs puppies into rescue and find them loving homes.
***We want to thank artist Laura Cooper for sending in another donation from proceeds of the sale of her beautiful Wild Flowers Seaglass Art. Laura is responsible for Deaf Dogs Rock being able to sponsor deaf puppy Blanche into Chelsea’s Hope Boxer Rescue and Tater into Happy Tails Animal Rescue. Thank you Laura, you ROCK!
Bryce – Speak St. Louis
Sweet deaf dog Bryce is blind in one eye and has Separation Anxiety. I get emails daily of people wanting to find a home or rescue for their deaf dogs and puppies because they have Separation Anxiety (SA). Many deaf dogs are dumped at kill shelters just because the previous families don’t want to have to deal with or do the work and training needed to help a deaf dog with SA. We are so glad our friends at Speak St. Louis Rescue are helping Bryce. With their experienced deaf dog foster homes Bryce will have a chance to have the training and also work with an experienced person that knows about SA. Bryce is a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program so we can help with Bryce’s vetting costs.
Lennon and Cornell – White Diamond Double Merle Dane Rescue
Sweet deaf Catahoula puppies Cornell and Lennon made the trip from Louisiana up North to the White Diamond Double Merle Dane Rescue where they will be in great hands. Both Cornell and Lennon will be recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program to help the rescue with vetting costs so they will be getting ready on their journey to their new lives.
Dalmatian Pups from Alaska Finn, Quinn and Puck – Green Dogs Unleashed
When a reputable Dalmatian breeder in Alaska reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock for help because she had a litter with three deaf Dalmatian puppies and she was concerned with finding them loving forever homes we were glad to help. We reached out to our partner rescue Green Dogs Unleashed here in Troy VA to see if Erika Proctor the Director could come up with a plan to get the three little ones here from Alaska to VA. Erika has a great relationship with the volunteer Delta Animal Rescue Transport so she put a plan together to get the pups to Virginia where they would go directly into foster care with other Adult deaf Dalmatians and also attend puppy classes at Green Dogs Unleashed Training facility before they go to their new approved homes.
All three of these puppies were sponsored into rescue because of the fundraising efforts of Kimberly Balboni and her entire Good Dog University & K-9 Daycare Team in West Springfield MA who host and annual fundraiser each year called the Wag-a-Thon to raise money so we can continue to sponsor deaf dogs and puppies into rescue.
Photo above: Here are two of the pups at their foster home meeting two adult deaf Dals just like them (to show them the ropes)!
Here is a photo of Puck arriving in Virginia on 8/31/21 – Thanks to everyone who helped get Puck from Alaska to Virginia!
Albus – Coco’s Cupboard Inc Rescue
When we saw deaf dog Albus listed needing rescue to pull him before his kill date we jumped into gear and offered a rescue sponsorship to help a rescue step up and hopefully help him. He had a Euthanasia date of 8/26/21 and we feared he would not make it out alive. Many of our Deaf Dogs Rock FB followers pressed the share button and we were so happy to hear from Coco’s Cupboard Inc Rescue in GA who pulled Albus to safety and got him into foster care. Albus will be a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship fund and we are just thrilled he is now safe. Below are some photos after he broke out of the shelter. Albus was sponsored with the help of Dr. Melissa Shapiro and Piglet the deaf blind pink puppy.
Odin – The ARRC (The Animal Rehab and Rescue) – Texas
A good samaritan named Gitta Heinze rescued little deaf pibble puppy Odin and worked very hard to find this little boy a rescue who would take a deaf puppy with skin issues. When she reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock for help we told her if she could find a reputable foster based rescue in her area that Deaf Dogs Rock would sponsor Odin’s vetting once he made it into rescue. Thanks to the good folks at The ARRC – The Animal Rehab and Rescue Center for helping Odin by taking him into rescue and finding him a loving forever home. Odin is a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program so we can help with his vetting to make room for the next puppy.
Photo above: Look at what a happy happy boy Odin is now that he is in foster care.
Wow what a busy month! We had so many great supporters reach out to donate to Deaf Dogs Rock so we could break our monthly sponsorship record and sponsor 25 deaf dogs and puppies into partner rescues. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your kind consideration and support.
