When it comes to helping animals, have you ever wondered “what if”? Being a deaf dog advocate I am constantly asking myself what is the one extra act of kindness I can do today to help a deaf dog in need. What if each one of us took a specific action for an animal in need, what would be the outcome of our actions? What if we just took an hour out of our busy week by committing to walk/network/sponsor a shelter dog or cat? What if we shared the plight of shelter animals with friends and family to bring awareness to their plight? What if we sponsored a animal to be spay/neutered or sponsored a dog into a rescue? What if we all took  just a few minutes out of our busy schedule to take a pledge to help at least one shelter dog/cat who doesn’t have a voice of their own?

What if each and every one of our Deaf Dogs Rock community members joined together to pledge to help save and protect dogs, cats, horses, and farm animals from cruelty? If you really want to find the answer to “what if?”, then I invite all of you to join us for the ASPCA’s 150 Days of Rescue by inspiring our friends and family to take a pledge to help animals in need. We’re game, are you? What if…..

The ASPCA today announced the start of a months-long celebration of its 150th anniversary this April with 150 Days of Rescue – a national campaign honoring the ASPCA’s 150 years of animal rescue by inspiring public action to help save and protect dogs, cats, horses and farm animals from cruelty.

In the 150-day campaign, which begins on the ASPCA’s April 10 birthday, the ASPCA will encourage animal lovers to visit ASPCA.org/150days and pledge at least 15 minutes of their time to helping animals in need, toward an ultimate goal of 150,000 acts of compassion through September 7, 2016. Possible actions include volunteering at a local shelter, fostering and/or adopting homeless animals, and advocating for stronger animal welfare laws. Those who log their actions on the campaign website will be encouraged to enter their favorite shelters or rescue groups in a grant contest in which one of these organizations will receive a $150,000 grant from the ASPCA..

As part of the celebration, notable stars from movies, television and music have come together in a video to encourage public participation in “150 Days of Rescue,” including Jason Schwartzman, George Lopez, Julie Bowen, Krysten Ritter, 50 Cent, Jennifer Coolidge, Kesha, Martha Stewart, Edie Falco, Nathan Lane, and others.

According to my three deaf rescue dogs Nitro, Bud, Bowi, my three hearing rescue dogs Bailey, Pepe and Tallulah if you take the pledge to participate in the #ASPCA150, you all totally ROCK! What if, they’re right?
