Random.org picked number 36 so Maggie Moo is our winner. Congratulations Maggie Moo! Can you please send me your shipping address to christina@deafdogsrock.com?. Thanks so much! Thanks to all of our friends who took the time to tell us about your doggy bath experiences. According to my deaf dog Nitro, you all Rock for taking such good care of you pups!

Since a lot of deaf dogs are white (because of lack of pigment) and because they have sensitive skin, I wanted to offer you some tips plus a Pawesome Hartz Grooming and Deaf Dogs Rock Give-away.

Nitro and I go out into the public arena often so I do like to give him a bath at least once a month. When we start doing Therapy work, he will be bathed twice a month. We love Oatmeal Shampoo so when Hartz came out with Hartz Oatmeal Shampoo for sensitive skin, I was thrilled! Their Oatmeal Shampoo is an extra gentle shampoo so it is perfect for my deaf dog Nitro. Do you want to know a secret? My Vet told me folks who have dogs with sensitive skin (like many of our deaf dogs) should delute the shampoo first in warm water (don’t apply the shampoo directly on the dog’s coat). Since Dr Todd gave me this tip, I have found it works wonders on Nitro!

Normally I will take one quart of warm water and 1/4 to 1/2 cup of Hartz Oatmeal Shampoo and mix the shampoo into the warm water before we head to the hand held shower. I always wet Nitro first and then slowly poor my Oatmeal mixture all over him while gently rubbing it into his white coat. I also make sure the shower water is luke warm (not cold and not hot). Nitro loves getting baths and afterwards he smells wonderful and his coat is silky soft.

The photo above was taken of my deaf dog Nitro this week at our local dog festival Dogtoberfest. I bathed him in the Hartz Oatmeal Shampoo the day before the festival. See how white he looks! When people come up to us and pet him, they are always comment on how soft and white his coat is for a dog.
