Meet adoptable deaf Catahoula (may be a Catahoula Bulldog) Waylon who needs a loving forever home where he will be cherished and kept safe.
From his shelter advocate: Waylon was surrendered to the shelter on 1/18/25. His owner, a veteran, was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer and a heart condition. His wife is working three jobs to help them stay afloat, but broke down yesterday when she surrendered Waylon, sobbing.
Waylon is a striking, high energy, athletic, 100% Catahoula dog. He knows (3) hand signals according to his owner: stop, sit, come. According to his former owner, Waylon is “an outdoor dog.” He would be happiest on a farm with cattle and a loving owner that will continue his training.
This dog is a climber, a Houdini, escaping Shelter enclosures: crates and chain link fences.
Waylon was adopted by his owners when he was just 5 weeks old out of pity because he going to be euthanized due to his deafness.
If you are interested in adopting Waylon, he is located at the Sylacauga Animal Shelter at 1212 Wynette Rd, Sylacauga AL 35151 or email Stephanie at: sengle@sylacaugaal.gov
Waylon is up to date on vaccines and his neuter surgery is scheduled for 2/3/25.
