Meet adoptable deaf, 2 year old Shih-tzu/Bichon mix Trooper who is looking for a loving home with someone who will spend a lot of time with him, be home a lot (retired or work from home) so he can be with his humans. Trooper is 10 pounds of pure joy!
From his caregiver: Trooper is the sweetest little guy. He is as cuddly as he looks and loves to snuggle. He sleeps in our bed every night and enjoys human and other doggo interaction more than life itself. He is a Teddy Bear breed (Shih-tzu/Bichon). He turned 2 in May and is about 10lbs. of fun love. We had a litter of puppies and when he was born deaf, we fell extra in love with him and then just kept procrastinating listing him for a forever home. Here we are 2 years later and life circumstances are forcing our hand to do so.
Trooper will only go to a home so perfect for him. No small children please. He is very gentle and playful but small and can be easily hurt. He wants to be an integral part of a family life. Whether you’re sitting watching TV or going to the family BBQ he would really love to be a part of it all! He wants you to understand that he is not a dog who is going to be okay sitting in a pen all day while you work. He needs companionship and someone who is going to be able to be home with him for a best fit. Whether that is parents with older kids or a retired couple with time to devote to their dog, or a single person who is dying for a full time companion. But here’s the thing, he does have separation anxiety, so he will need to be, either with another dog (another dog is really ideal for him as he loves his other dog siblings so much), or you, or you will need to have experience in training separation anxiety before you decide to take him. He also has a nice thick double coat of fur. So, he will need regular grooming appointments every 6-8 weeks. He is worth it all and is the best little companion you could ask for!
Fun fact: Trooper was born on Star Wars Day for all of you fans! Hence, his name!
