Meet Stevie adoptable, deaf, vision impaired, four year old Stevie who is looking for a very special home with someone who will cherish him, become his new best friend and always keep him safe.

From his rescue advocate:
Stevie is still waiting for someone to choose him, and we can’t understand why! Everyone who meets this sweet boy falls in love with him, and the staff at his boarding facility absolutely adore him. Yet, despite all the love he has to give, Stevie hasn’t received a single adoption application. We’re hoping his story will reach the special person who sees what a wonderful companion he can be.
Stevie is believed to be around 4 years old and weighs approximately 60 pounds. He is incredibly sweet, affectionate, playful, and smart. He loves people and enjoys the attention of everyone he meets. Stevie is quite the velcro dog and loves staying close to his humans. Once he feels comfortable, his loving personality is impossible to miss.
Stevie was found wandering in the desert, dehydrated, underweight, and with scratches on his body. We don’t know what his life was like before coming into rescue, but we know he deserves a future filled with safety, love, and a place to call home.
Stevie has significant vision and hearing impairments. He is blind in one eye, has very limited vision in the other, and is mostly deaf. These challenges mean he experiences the world a little differently, but they certainly don’t define who he is or how much he has to offer.

Stevie is a smart boy who is already learning to communicate with the people around him. He now knows the hand signals for “sit” and “down” and continues to learn more. His previous foster worked with him on building confidence, communication, and navigating the world with his limited vision and hearing. He is a fast learner who benefits from patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement.
Stevie will need a family willing to continue helping him learn and grow. Because he has limited vision and hearing, unfamiliar surroundings and busy environments can sometimes overwhelm him. A calm, predictable home where he can become familiar with his surroundings and develop trust at his own pace will help him feel secure. Gentle guidance, visual cues, routine, and a willingness to understand his individual needs will go a long way toward helping him thrive.

Stevie enjoys playing fetch and being close to his people. He has so much potential to become a devoted companion and a wonderful part of someone’s life. He doesn’t need someone to feel sorry for him. He needs someone who will recognize his abilities, celebrate his progress, and give him the chance to live a happy, fulfilling life.
Although Stevie enjoys the company of other dogs and can be playful with them, we’ve learned that sharing certain high-value items and space can be challenging. For this reason, we believe he would be happiest as the only dog in the home, where he can relax and enjoy his people and belongings without the added stress of sharing.

And now, the hardest part of Stevie’s story… he is still waiting in boarding.
The people who care for him there adore him. Everyone who gets to know him sees what a special boy he is. We just need to find the person who will look beyond his disabilities and see the loving, intelligent dog waiting for a chance.
Deaf and visually impaired dogs can thrive with people who are willing to learn how they communicate and help them feel safe. Stevie has already shown us how much he can learn. Imagine what he could accomplish with a family of his own, a consistent routine, and someone who believes in him.
Stevie deserves more than a kennel and a waiting game. He deserves a comfortable home, a person to love, and the opportunity to show just how wonderful life can be.
Could you be the person Stevie has been waiting for?
If you can offer Stevie the patient, loving home he needs, please consider adopting him. If you can’t adopt, sharing his story could help it reach the person who can.
