The core mission of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy program is to set up each deaf puppy/dog for success by sending them into a experienced special needs rescue where they go into a experienced deaf dog foster home that is committed to training and socializing each deaf dog that comes into their care. This way each foster advocate gets the opportunity to live with the deaf dog, work with the deaf dog and accurately evaluate each deaf dog/puppy to make sure to match the dog with the right home once the adoption screening process starts. The adoption screening process is very thorough. Each interested family must fill out an adoption application that asks lots of questions and a full list of references is required to be considered for adoption.

We work with shelters, rescues, private individual and breeders to help get each deaf puppy into our program to make sure each deaf dog/puppy gets the individual training, socialization, and love to grow up to become a cherished member of society. Deaf Dogs Rock is a judgement free zone and are here to help deaf dogs and puppies get a fresh start and a chance at a great life.

When screening potential homes for a deaf dog/puppy, there are many guidelines to follow like checking all references, talking to the applicants veterinarian and performing a thorough home visit to make sure each home is a safe place for a deaf or deaf/blind dog. This is why our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy is so important to set each deaf pup up for a successful happy life in their new home. Our Rocker Puppy program financially sponsors each deaf dog/puppy so the dogs can be spay/neutered before they are adopted to a new family. We only work with rescues and advocacy organizations who are committed in making sure each deaf dog/puppy is spay/neutered before being placed in a new home.

It is our number one mission to make sure each deaf dog and puppy gets basic training, socialization. are in a loving and caring foster home where their confidence soars. Our partners set each deaf dog up for success. Jan – September 2019, Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored a total of 101 deaf dogs and puppies into have been sponsored into rescue so far this year.

In September 2019, our Deaf Dogs Rock community sponsored 18 deaf dogs into the safe harbor of rescue so they can start on their new journey to finding their forever homes. Thank you to all of you who continue to support Deaf Dogs Rock by donating, hosting fundraisers and spreading the word to family and friends on how awesome deaf dogs can be.

For the past five years Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 626 deaf dogs/puppies (as of 9/30/19) into rescue and we could not have done it without the full support of our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community so thank you, thank you, thank you for the bottom of our hearts! ~ Christina Lee and the entire DDR team

Deaf Dog Casper from Lenoir County SPCA to Angles of Assisi

Deaf Dog Casper will be sponsored by our Deaf Dogs Rock Community. He came with a group of 47 dogs and 30 cats rescued by Angels to get them out of the way of the oncoming Hurricane Dorian. We have known about Casper for a few weeks now and were waiting to hear when the next big rescue was going to take place by Angels of Assisi Rescue so Casper could get a ride from Lenoir County SPCA to Angels of Assisi here in Roanoke. All the animals arrived safely but as you can imagine the rescue is packed and needed funds for vetting and basic care supplies.

Deaf Dog Zeke – Paw Support

Thanks to our friend Monica Brown and Paw Support for getting Zeke. When Monica sent us an urgent plea we told her if she could find a reputable local rescue to take Zeke that Deaf Dogs Rock would sponsor his needs and she did. This will be the second dog in less than a month that Paw Support has stepped up to rescue and our community has stepped up to sponsor him. It takes a tribe of people coming together to help these special dogs.

Heeler puppy Jasmine – GDU

Thanks to Green Dogs Unleashed for making room for this little ACD deaf puppy Jasmine from Front Royal, Virginia. She is a sweet deaf Australian Cattle Dog who is going into an experienced deaf dog foster home where she will start her Puppy classes at GDU, get her crate training and socialization before she becomes available for adoption. She will also be spayed before she is available for adoption. Thanks to our supporters who help Deaf Dogs Rock help blue heeler puppies like this little girl so they can be thoroughly vetted before they start on their new journey with their new family.

Ottis and Pepper – Deaf Dogs Rescue of America

It’s always such a pleasure to help out deaf dogs on the West coast and also work with our friends Lisa and Mark Tipton at the Deaf Dog Rescue of America. We are happy to report our Deaf Dogs Rock Community sponsored deaf Catahoula Ottis and deaf ACD Pepper into their special needs deaf dogs rescue in California.

Little Chase and Boris – Speak For The Unspoken

Sweet Chase was transported all the way form Texas to Ohio to Speak For The Unspoken. We were so happy to get Chase into rescue and be able to sponsor him through our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy program so he can get the vetting/neutering he needs before he becomes available for adoption. A big shout out to Speak For the Unspoken and Delta Animal Rescue Transport for helping Chase get from Texas to Ohio safely. The Delta Animal Rescue Transport is the same group of volunteers who carried my little deaf Boston Terrier Bowie from Austin Texas here to Virginia so we think they totally rock!

Boris – Speak For The Unspoken Ohio

Speak also made room for sweet deaf puppy Boris who is doing well in foster care, getting his vetting and he will be ready to start his new life.

Moonlight – Amazing Aussies Lethal White Rescue of Arizona

When we heard about an innocent deaf puppy who got thrown out of a pick up truck in AZ we wanted to help. A good Samaritan saw what happened, went and saved the sweet little puppy and she is now safely with the Amazing Aussies Lethal White Rescue of Arizona. If you haven’t heard of this rescue they are truly our heroes and do such great work out west. The puppy’s new name is Moonlight and we sent in a Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship so Moonlight can get the vetting he needs to get ready to be adopted soon.

Harrison – Amazing Aussies Lethal White Rescue of Arizona

Thank goodness for rescues like The Amazing Aussie Lethal White Rescue of Arizona. Poor Harrison had been out on a lead for months being attacked by the resident dogs and fending for himself. It will take months of rehabilitation to get Harrison to learn not all humans are bad. He was covered in fleas, cowering and had a gigantic umbilical hernia and needed to be neutered. We know Harrison is in great hands and will have a wonderful life with a person or family who will never harm him, only cherish him and always keep him safe. Thanks to all of our supporters here at Deaf Dogs Rock we were honored to help Harrison out.

6 Great Danes go to Green Dogs Unleashed

Thanks to our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community we were able to sponsor six deaf Great Danes into our partner rescue Green Dogs Unleashed. The seizure of 32 Great Danes took place in King and Queen County VA district court and the court released them to rescues on September 21. We had been in contact with Green Dogs Unleashed because the thought that at least five or six of the Great Danes are deaf and we told GDU if they had room our Deaf Dogs Rock community would sponsor them into rescue. They were picked up Saturday September 21 and transported to their foster homes through Green Dogs Unleashed. As soon as we got the word the judge had released the dogs and they were being picked up we launched a 24 hour fundraiser on our Deaf Dogs Rock Facebook page. September 21, 2019 was International Deaf Dogs Rock Day and boy did our community celebrate by helping Deaf Dogs Rock raise over $4000.00 to sponsor the Great Danes into Green Dogs Unleashed. Chris and I are so proud of our Deaf Dogs Rock community because when it comes to helping deaf dogs in need they always step up to face the challenges of helping each dog we sponsor. Thanks you, thank you, thank you for your continued support and generous donations.
