Meet adoptable deaf, 2.5 year old Catahoula Leopard dog Sarah who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her, become her new best friend, make daily positive reinforcement training/socialization/enrichment a priority and always keep her safe.

From her rescue advocate: Sarah is a beautiful and unique Catahoula Leopard dog mix who is around 2.5 years old. She has gorgeous blue eyes and a coat that looks like a patchwork quilt! She is around 38 lbs. She came to us as an unclaimed stray, and it didn’t take us long to figure out that Sarah could not hear. Sarah can do very well with other dogs, but she is very reactive to any new-to-her dogs, so introductions must be slow. We have paired her with several other dogs here at our rescue, including large Pyrenees, and she loves to play with them! Her play style is quite energetic and hard, so she would do best with another dog that enjoys the same. Sarah is potty trained here at the rescue and enjoys playing with toys and also napping! She is high energy and would love a fenced yard to run and play. She should be fed separately from other dogs as she sometimes guards her food but has really improved with this guarding behavior now that she knows she always has a meal.

We use hand signals with Sarah and she responds super well to that. She is very treat motivated and watches her humans for ques and direction. She absolutely loves her walks, though she can pull despite her smaller size. We find she does best with a harness lead or harness and not a leash/collar.

Sarah is truly a special soul and we are so looking forward to the day someone walks through our doors to take her home! She is spayed, heart worm negative, on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives, microchipped, and current on her vaccinations. She is ready for the next step in life…a home to call her own and a family that will continue to work with her with patience and love!
