Meet adoptable 7 month old mixed breed puppy Sakari who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her, make daily positive reinforcement training a priority and always keep her safe.

From Sakari: Hello! I am Sakari! Aren’t my ears cute? They’re just for show, I can’t hear, but they sure are pretty!

Sakari is a 7 month old, mixed breed puppy.  Our best guess is that she is a border collie/bully mix. Sakari was adopted from a shelter in Oklahoma and then returned when it was discovered that she is deaf. She will be a large dog and will need someone who can spend time working with her on training while she is still young so she does not become an unmanageable adult. So far she is doing great! She is working on potty and leash training. She is very smart, responsive to hand signals, and mastering crate training.

Sakari is a wonderful puppy. She is a confident, well balanced girl who has no problem meeting new people. She is fostered as an only dog, but has done well with cats in the past. Sakari was briefly fostered with ferrets and rabbits and we quickly learned that she cannot go to a forever home with these types of pets in it. We believe Sakari should be the only dog in her forever home.

Apartment living will not be for Sakari, and she will need a fenced yard. She doesn’t bark often but she can be noisy in her crate, at least until you get her settled into a routine.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our application here: http://www.rchsks.org/our-animals/adopt-a-pet/adopting-a-dog. By filling out the application you are not committing yourself to adopting; it’s a screening process that must be completed before you meet the dog. Please do this BEFORE calling. Our voicemail is only checked periodically and you can reach us much faster via dog-coordinators@rchsks.org. Thank you!
