Meet adoptable deaf 10 month old Catahoula/Cur dog Rooster. Rooster is looking for a loving forever home with someone who does not have cats, chickens, geese or other small animals. He does not know the difference between wild animals and domesticated animals like cats because he is a working/hunting breed. He needs someone who will love him, use positive reinforcement training methods to help him be the best dog he can be and keep him safe.
From his current caregiver:
Rooster showed up in my pasture July 3. The pic of the three dogs playing is the day after we found him. He’s since been neutered.
Rooster likes sleeping on the couch, bed, or now sleeps quietly in his kennel.
He had one accident in the house the night we found him. He will scratch at the door to go out.
He is good on a leash.
Loves to be outside.
Loves affection.
Will come to the door when his collar is vibrated when he is outside.
He s neutered.
He is microchipped.
Up to date on vaccines.
Will fetch on his own terms.
Unfortunately when Rooster is inside (and there are little animals running around outside) he does pace in the house but may not have that issue if he is in a new home with no small animals roaming right outside the door.
Because he can’t tell the difference between domesticated small animals and small wild animals he need to be in a home where there is no animals. It is unfortunate that he has killed some of the geese and one cat on our property. We do have other cats and we fear they will not be safe around Rooster who is clearly bred hunt small animals.
He’s deaf. He can hear some sounds, but doesn’t seem to be able to figure out where they are coming from.
Rooster Needs
A home without small animals. We had put up extra fencing to keep him away from the smaller animals, but he got my cat.
I’d recommend a fenced yard, but I don’t like to tie out a dog.
His weight is approx 45 pounds
His adoption fee is $175 to a screened and approved home only. You must also live within a couple hours drive of Moses Lake, WA to be considered for adoption.
