Update 3/11/18: Rizzo has been adopted! A young lady named Becki saw my comment on a Facebook post by NBC 12 reporter named Curt Autry ( click here to see the post) Curt had described how a couple of shelters didn’t want him to feature their adoptable shelter dogs on TV anymore because it made the shelter’s phones ring none stop and they had to help more people who visited the shelter to look at adoptable dogs. After I saw his FB post I left Curt a message under his post (which now has hundreds of comments) that Deaf Dogs Rock would be honored for him to share any of our deaf dogs in Virginia we have listed available for adoption on DeafDogsRock.com.  I posted two of our Virginia deaf dog listings and one of those links went directly to deaf dog Rizzo in Hopewell, Virginia (you know just in case Curt wanted to share a link). My post comment and Rizzo’s adoption link happened to catch the attention of a young lady named Becki Hull. Becki immediately jumped in her car and drove all over the place trying to track down deaf dog Rizzo. We had Rizzo listed available for adoption at the Hopewell Animal Shelter in Hopewell, Virginia. Becki soon learned that Rizzo was no longer at the Hopewell shelter but she had recently been moved out of the Hopewell shelter and moved to another shelter because of overcrowding. Below is the message Becki sent to us today.

From Becki Hull:

Because of a post you made on Curt Autry of NBC 12 in Richmond VA,  I went all over Virginia this weekend to find this sweet girl Rizzo! She was originally in the Hopewell Animal Shelter but was moved due to overcrowding but after some help from the Hopewell shelter staff and some internet detective work, I found her in a county shelter in Sussex, VA. We gave her her freedom ride this morning! I just want to say thank you. Rizzo (soon to have a better fitting name) thanks you too 💟

Rizzo’s freedom ride!

She is spayed, micro-chipped and has congenital deafness. She knows basic hand signals, does well with other dogs and absolutely adores everyone. She is very active and would likely do best in an experienced home with children over 8!
