Meet adoptable deaf, 2.5 year old Dixie who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her and always keep her safe.
From her shelter advocate: Dixie was found as a stray and brought to our local animal control before coming to the shelter. She has been with us since April of this year and is currently our longest resident. Dixie is deaf, and has now been adopted/returned three separate times. Her disability does not slow her down, but it has made it difficult for her to find a forever home.
We believe that she is a boxer mix and around 2.5 years old. She is incredibly intelligent, and responds very well to non verbal commands. Dixie has also participated in a 10 week training program where she learned a variety of different skills and tricks. She loves spending time with other dogs and plays especially well with males.
Dixie has done well with cats, but can be overly playful at times. She is potty trained, leash trained, and is very quiet in her kennel. She loves everyone she meets, but would do better in a home with older children. She has been spayed, microchipped, heart worm tested (negative), distemper, rabies vaccinated, dewormed, and is up to date on flea and heart worm prevention. She’s a very sweet, affectionate, gentle girl who would make an amazing companion and cuddle buddy!
