Meet adoptable deaf 3 year old Catahoula dog Pepper who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will become her new best friend and always keep her safe.

From her caregiver: Pepper is 3 years old, and we have had her since she was about 15 weeks old. She is deaf and may have some vision issues as well. Pepper is a double merle Catahoula.

Well, that is what we were told, she looks as if she is maybe also part blue heeler. She loves going out for walks on her leash and playing with tennis balls. She is crate trained and actually enjoys her crate; we feel that she thinks of it as her safe place. She does really well at the vet’s office and even is able to board. She does gets anxious at times, but once warmed up to everyone she is really sweet!

When we first got Pepper, she did really well with our other dog. They were outside playing one evening and we think he may have spooked her, and she got defensive, and they ended up having a small fight. Neither dog was really injured but we have had a hard time getting the two of them back together. We have an almost 2-year-old daughter and Pepper has barked at her but never shown aggression towards her. Given that she and our other dog have not been able to get back together and fear that if spooked by our daughter she may react, we have come to the very difficult decision to re-home her.

Pepper’s adoption fee is $100 to a screened and approved home. You also need to live within a 2-3 hour drive time of Bassett VA. If you are interested in giving Pepper a loving forever  home where she will be the only dog, please email Alecia at alallen1015@gmail.com
