Meet adoptable deaf 2.5 year old Bully mix Opal who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her, become her new best friend and someone who will make daily positive reinforcement sign training/enrichment a priority and always keep her safe.

From her rescue advocate: Deaf dog’s name: Opal

Breed: Labrador Retriever/Pitbull Terrier Mix

Sex/Age/Weight: Female/2yrs old/55lbs

Vetting: Up to date on vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. Heartworm positive, but is undergoing treatment.

House trained/Crate Trained: yes – prefers cuddling over kennel, but is kennel trained.

Dogs/Cats/Children: Dogs – needs introduction time, then is happy. Cats- unknown, but can be cat tested upon request. Children – yes, please!

Energy Level: She does enjoy stretching her legs in the yard a few times a day and I truly believe she would be great for a runner, but not required.

Before FAR/My History: Found on the streets of Macon – very scary as she’s deaf.

Training Status/Commands I know: Down, sit, and come (eye contact required for all commands).

Working on: Wait- she likes to jump up on people out of excitement, but is getting better!

Things I like: Cuddling, running, cuddles, hanging out, cuddling, sun bathing, cuddles, crazy birds that I can chase around the yard, more cuddles, chew bones, and did I mention cuddling?

Things I don’t like: Not being able to cuddle, aka when you want “personal space”. Ewwwww that sounds terrible!

Things that make my humans happy: How loving and happy she is. Opal is seriously a very happy girl!

Special Notes: I’m 100% deaf. Though many people question how good life can be for a deafie – I assure you that it is AWESOME! Order all the Doordash and Amazon stuff you want, I don’t care about the doorbell! Your questionable choices in music….I don’t mind at all as long as I get to cuddle! Clean freak? Vacuum all you want – I’ll take a nap!
