Meet adoptable deaf dog Nova who is a sweet and resilient girl who is looking for a very special person to help her navigate the world. Nova is mostly deaf and partially blind, which means she experiences life a little differently, but her heart is just as full of love as any other dog’s.

We’re looking for an adopter who understands the patience, structure, and consistency she needs to feel safe and thrive. Nova will do best in a calm environment with someone willing to learn her communication cues and provide her with the guidance she deserves. She does not realize that she is different and plays HARD! She loves to learn and to interact with other dogs.

What Nova Needs:

An experienced handler who has worked with dogs with hearing or vision impairments (OR willingness to learn)

A stable home environment with someone who will provide daily positive reinforcement training/socialization/enrichment and always keep her safe. She will flourish with someone who will provide structure and routine. She would love to have a secure fenced in yard where she can run, chase balls, explore and remain safe. She need to be an inside dog to become a member of the family but also have access to a secure yard. She needs a person who will cherish her, be patient with her training/learning and just become her very best friend.

If you have the experience or willingness to learn, heart, and time to help Nova, please reach out to us at: halee@ahhumanesociety.org

Nova is waiting for someone who sees her abilities, not her limitations.
