Meet adoptable deaf, two year old, Lab/Mastiff mix Mozart who is looking for a loving home with someone who will cherish him and help him to be the best he can be.

From his rescue advocate: Mozart is a sweet, smart, mellow 2 year old boy, approximately 60-65 pounds. He is 80% lab, 20% mastiff, and 100% lovebug. Mozart came to us as a foster not leash or house trained and not knowing any obedience commands. In the month that we have had him, he has made big strides in housebreaking and has learned signs for no, outside, food, treat, sit, lay down, come, and stay. Mozart is still working on house manners such as staying out of the kitchen trash and barking less. He gets along well with our teen kids, two dogs, and cat. He is still learning that the cat running away doesn’t mean she wants to play.

Mozart is not crate trained and gets extremely anxious when crated. He needs someone to slowly and patiently help him get used to being crated. He also had a bad reaction to vibration collar training.

Mozart would do best with a family that is home more often than not and with another dog for him to play with/ take comfort from. Mozart loves to have his people within sight, but is fine with being left alone in the house. He definitely needs a fenced yard. While he has on two occasions jumped a four foot fence, he is usually content to stay within the yard. Only if his people are on the other side of the fence and ignoring him does he feel motivated to jump.

Mozart is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all his shots. He is available through Lab Rescue https://www.lab-rescue.org/ and can only be adopted in PA, DE, MD, VA, WVA, and NC. To see Mozart’s profile on the Lab Rescue website, click Available Dogs and scroll down to his name.
