Meet adoptable deaf 6 year old Milo who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish him, become his new best friend, take him on fun adventures and always keep him safe
From his advocate:
Hello, I’m Milo! I’m an active, sweet and strikingly handsome 6-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix weighing in at about 68 pounds. I live in a silent world because I am deaf.
I may not be able to hear the sound of your voice, but I understand what really matters — your love, attention and kindness to me.
The first thing you might notice about me is that I come off a little aloof. I like to take my time — sniffing, exploring, and checking out my surroundings at my own pace.
But once I’ve made my rounds and am, er, done with “business,” I’ll saunter over to you to say hello. Here’s a little tip: I LOVE treats – bring a few along and you’ll win me over a whole lot faster. And oh, I’ll take them very gently from your hand.
I can be incredibly affectionate and loving once I get to know you—just ask my volunteer friends! They’ve taken the time to earn my trust, and in return, they see the sweet, sensitive, and gentle side of me that strangers often miss. Some of my favorite moments are sitting beside them, gazing up with my soulful eyes, and flashing a big, goofy smile while soaking up kisses and head scratches.
I’ll happily and eagerly “Sit” when I know there are treats coming my way. I can get a bit excited on walks and may pull at first, but can you blame me? I spend a lot of time in my kennel, so when it’s time to stretch my legs, sniff the world, and leave a few “pee-mails,” I’m all in. With a little patience and guidance, I’d love to learn how to be your perfect walking companion.
I’ve also been learning to understand hand signals and am getting good at it. I already know the signals for ‘Sit,’ ‘Stay,’ and ‘Down,’ and I’m working hard to learn more.
My ideal home would be with a person or family who can spend quality time with me, continue to practice hand signals and help me grow into the best version of myself. Patience, consistency, and unconditional love is all I ask for — and I paw-mise to give it all back many times over.
If you have a doggo at home, I’d love the chance to meet them and see if we’re a good match. Please bring them along for an on-leash supervised meet and greet. I’m already vaccinated, neutered and microchipped and ready to come home with you!
Thank you so much for hearing me out! I can’t wait for your love to fill the silence inside me – it’s been too quiet in here.
