May 2024 was a very busy month for Deaf Dogs Rock. Our Deaf Dogs Rock Community sponsored 9 deaf dogs and puppies into special needs rescue in the fifth month of 2024! Wow what a huge accomplishment in such a bad economy. Thank you to every single person who donated to Deaf Dogs Rock in the second quarter of 2024 so we can continue to sponsor deaf pups into rescue.

It takes a tribe of animal lovers to support Deaf Dogs Rock to continue to carry out our mission of helping one deaf dog at a time. Deaf Dogs Rock spends between $3000 and $5000.00 each month on Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorships!   If you would like to help sponsor a deaf dog out of a kill shelter into the safe arms of rescue, please click here to Donate. If you would like to donate in honor of a person, your deaf dog or in memory of one of your pets, you can send us a photo for our Honor/Memory Wall and donate here.

Every single day on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page you will see Rescue posts on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page which we put up for shelters across the country trying to get deaf dogs out of over crowded shelters before their time is up and they are euthanized. Sometimes a deaf dog who is surrendered only has a day or two for the opportunity to be pulled by a reputable foster based rescue so that is why you will see our organizations offer $200-$300 on almost every rescue plea we post up on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page so we can encourage rescues to help a deaf dog in need. Without the financial sponsorship offers to help with each dog’s vetting expenses, may of the deaf shelter dogs would parish and surely die within a few days.

The core mission of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program is to set up each deaf dog or puppy for success by sending them into a experienced special needs rescue where they can go into a experienced deaf dog foster homes. The foster homes are committed to training and socializing each deaf dog that comes into their care before they are available for adoption. This way, each foster advocate gets the opportunity to live with the deaf pup for awhile, work with the deaf dog, and accurately evaluate each deaf dog/puppy to make sure the organization makes the very best match for each deaf dog when it comes to finding the right home for that particular deaf dog.

Deaf Dogs Rock works directly with shelters, rescues, sanctuaries, private individuals, and breeders to help get each deaf puppy into our Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program and into rescue. By doing so, each deaf pup gets the individual training, vetting, socialization, and TLC to grow up to become a cherished member of society. Deaf Dogs Rock is a judgement free zone and our number one priority will always be to help deaf dogs and puppies get a fresh start and a chance at a great life.

When our rescue partners screen potential new homes for a deaf dog/puppy, each rescue has a specific set of guidelines to follow when considering a new home for example; like checking all references, talking to the applicant’s veterinarian, and performing a thorough home visit to make sure each home is a safe place for a deaf or deaf/blind dog. This is why our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue Sponsorship program is so important to get the deaf dog out of the shelter (or from an individual) and help our partner rescues set up each deaf pup for a successful happy life in their new home. We do this by helping each rescue with vetting expenses so each puppy ends up in a rescue that specifically advocates for them. Our Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program financially sponsors deaf dogs/puppies so each pup can be vaccinated and spay/neutered before they are adopted to a new family. We only work with rescue partners and advocacy organizations who are committed in making sure each deaf pup is spay/neutered before being placed in a new home (unless they are Great Danes or Dalmatians which need to done after 12 months of age).

Our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community sponsored another 9 deaf dogs/pups in May, 2024 which is a huge accomplishment in a recession. So far in 2024 Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 69 deaf pups into rescue.  So far since the beginning of our Rocker Dog/Puppy Program several years ago, Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 1597 deaf dogs into rescue (as of 5/31/24).

Our May 2024 Sponsorship Recaps are below:

Ghost – Neuter surgery – Monett Police Department – Monett MO – Pending

Sweet Ghost was at the Monett MO Animal Control and Deaf Dogs Rock offered a neuter sponsorship for him to get neutered before he goes to his new forever home. He has since been adopted.

When Loretta from Chelsea’s Hope Boxer Rescue reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock about two deaf boxer puppies, we were happy to offer a vetting sponsorship for each puppy through Nitro’s Fund. Nitro’s Fund was set up specifically to sponsor deaf boxer pups into rescue and their vetting because our sweet deaf dog Nitro was a boxer boy. You can read more about Nitro’s Fund here. This way the deaf rocker pups can be fully vetted before being available for adoption. Thanks to Chelsea’s Hope for taking in these two little deaf boxer pups so they would not end up in a crowed shelter. Thanks to our supporters who donate to Deaf Dogs Rock, we are able to help our rescue partners with the costs of vetting each deaf puppy before it goes into a new home.\

Lucan and Declan – Speak For The Unspoken – Ohio

When our friends from Speak For The Unspoken Rescue in Grove City Ohio reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock for help, we were happy to support them. These two deaf 10 week old Aussie/Poodle mixes are Lucan and Declan. Lucan also has a fractured leg which will require surgery. Both Lucan and Declan will be recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Rescue Sponsorship fund to help Speak for the Unspoken with some of their vetting expenses.

Leia, Olaf, Laika and Snowflake – Code Red Animal Rescue Texas

Leia is now in the safe arms of rescue with our friends at Code Red Animal Project Inc. in Texas who specialize in rescuing deaf and deaf blind dogs. Here is what they have to say about Leia once she arrived into their care: Leia, aka Aurora (Grand Prairie Animal Shelter)
Aurora is such a fluffy bundle of love. She loves other dogs and is smart as a whip. Her favorite things are laying by your feet, leaning in for belly rubs, and frolicking with friends. This girl was a long time resident of the Grand Prairie shelter, and the rescue coordinator actually reached out specifically to us to take her. She’s an absolute doll!

Olaf was also rescued by Code Red Animal Project Inc in Texas and here is what they have to say about sweet deaf dog Olaf: Olaf came to us all the way from Long Island’s Brookhaven Animal Shelter. He was born with deformed knees and has moderate hip dysplasia, in addition to being deaf. He’s an absolute Velcro dog and loves being my shadow. His hips will likely need surgery in the future, but he isn’t currently in pain and his mobility and endurance are good! For now, he needs joint supplements and monitoring.

Laika will be another one of our sponsored deaf pups into Code Red Animal Project, Inc in Texas. Jyl and Brian with Code Red tell us this about Laika: Laika was found as a stray near Houston. She was the only dog from a pack that the finder could catch. She’s pending her spay and is learning the ins and outs of being an indoor dog, but is adjusting very well! She follows the model of her foster siblings well and will do anything for snuggles.

Leia, Olaf, Laika and sweet Snowflake in the photo above will all be recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Rescue Sponsorship Program to help Code Red Animal Project Inc with each deaf dog’s vetting expenses before they go to their new forever homes. Here is what they have to say about sweet deaf dog Snowflake: Snowflake is a very special girl with very special needs. We pulled her from Dallas Animal Services and she immediately showed signed of a seizure disorder. It’s been quite the adventure trying to find the best management for her seizures, but a combination of phenobarbital, keppra and chiropractic adjustments seem to be doing the trick! She’s so full of love, spunk and joy and is 100% worth every penny we’ve spent on her.

Abe – Carolina Boxer Rescue – North Carolina

When Deaf Dogs Rock was sent a link about deaf boxer Abe who needed rescue, we were happy to start networking him by putting up a rescue plea and offering $250 rescue sponsorship for a reputable foster based 501c3 rescue to help him. We were so happy that Carolina Boxer Rescue stepped up and pulled Abe to safety and got him into foster care. Abe will be a recipient of our Nitro’s Fund Rescue Sponsorship program that is set up to help deaf boxers in need of rescue or medical sponsorships. If you have a deaf boxer you would like to donate in honor of to help the next deaf boxer you can go to the Nitro’s Fund page here.

Audio – South County Animal Rescue  (SCAR)  – CA

When we heard from a shelter in CA about a sweet deaf puppy named Rowan, we know we  had to start networking him and offer a rescue sponsorship to a reputable foster based 501c3 rescue to pull him from the shelter and get him into foster care. Rowan now named Audio.

Audio is now safely with South County Animal Rescue in their very special training program at the local correctional training facility. Sweet Audio is a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Rescue Sponsorship program to help the rescue with his vetting to get him ready for adoption in the near future.

Thank you to each and every one of you who donated to help us continue to help deaf shelter and deaf puppy mill dogs into rescue. We so appreciate all your support and we could not do what we do on a daily basis without your kind consideration and support! ~ Christina Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock
