Thank you to all of our supporters who donated to Deaf Dogs Rock in the month of March 2023 to keep our mission going! Our Deaf Dogs Rock community has sponsored 22 deaf dogs/pups into rescue this March. What a great accomplishment in a struggling economy.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for continuing to support our mission to save one deaf dog at a time. We also want to give a huge shout out and THANK YOU to every single person who continues to support Deaf Dogs Rock in the beginning of 2023 so we can continue to sponsor deaf dogs and puppies into rescue.

It takes a tribe of animal lovers to support Deaf Dogs Rock to continue to carry out our mission. Deaf Dogs Rock spent between $5000 and $7000.00  each month on Rocker Puppy Rescue sponsorships!   If you would like to help sponsor a deaf dog out of a kill shelter into the safe arms of rescue, please click here to Donate.

Every single day on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page you will see Rescue posts which we put up for shelters across the country trying to get deaf dogs out of over crowed shelters before their time is up and they are euthanized. Sometimes a deaf dog who is surrendered only has a day or two for the opportunity to be pulled by a reputable foster based rescue so that is why you will see our organizations offer $250-$300 on almost every rescue plea post we put up to encourage rescues to help a deaf dog in need. Without the financial offer of sponsorships these deaf dogs would surely die within a few days.

The core mission of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Rescue sponsorship program is to set up each deaf dog or puppy for success by sending them into a experienced special needs rescue where they go into a experienced deaf dog foster homes who are committed to training and socializing each deaf dog that comes into their care. This way, each foster advocate gets the opportunity to live with the deaf pup for awhile, work with the deaf dog, and accurately evaluate each deaf dog/puppy to make sure the organization makes the very best match for each deaf dog with the right home once the adoption screening process starts.

Deaf Dogs Rock works with shelters, rescues, private individuals, and breeders to help get each deaf puppy into our Rocker Puppy Rescue sponsorship program and into rescue. By doing so, each deaf pup gets the individual training, vetting, socialization, and TLC to grow up to become a cherished member of society. Deaf Dogs Rock is a judgement free zone and our number one priority will always be to help deaf dogs and puppies get a fresh start and a chance at a great life.

When our rescue partners screen potential new homes for a deaf dog/puppy, each rescue has a specific set of guidelines to follow when considering a new home for example; like checking all references, talking to the applicant’s veterinarian, and performing a thorough home visit to make sure each home is a safe place for a deaf or deaf/blind dog. This is why our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Rescue Sponsorship program is so important to get the deaf dog out of the shelter and help our partners set up each deaf pup for a successful happy life in their new home by helping each rescue with vetting expenses so each puppy ends up in a rescue that specifically advocates for them. Our Rocker Puppy Rescue sponsorship program financially sponsors deaf dogs/puppies so each pup can be vaccinated and spay/neutered before they are adopted to a new family. We only work with rescue partners and advocacy organizations who are committed in making sure each deaf pup is spay/neutered be before being placed in a new home (unless they are Great Danes or Dalmatians).

Our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community sponsored 22 deaf dogs/pups in March, 2023 which is a huge accomplishment in a recession. So far in this year our DDR community has sponsored 57 deaf pups into rescue in the first 12 weeks of 2023. So far since the beginning of our Rocker Puppy Program several years ago, Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 1388 deaf dogs into rescue (as of 3/31/23).

Helen Keller -From Great Tails Animal Rescue in Grand Rapids MI to Pink Heart Rescue in Indianapolis IN

Thanks to Great Tails Animal Rescue for reaching out to Deaf Dogs Rock and Pink Heart Rescue. Here is the story about sweet deaf/blind puppy Helen Keller. From Great Tails Animal Rescue: We at Great Tails, would like to tell you the story about this beautiful lil girl that we took in on Friday. We named her Helen Keller. Like her namesake, she was born Blind AND Deaf, due to the double Merle gene. (A double merle aka lethal white, homozygous merles, or pattern white is created when two merle gene carrier dogs are bred together. It doesn’t matter what color merle or what breed they are. If two merle gene carrier dogs are bred together, each puppy in the litter has a 25% chance of being born a double merle. A double merle inherits the merle gene twice.) She is a five wk old Aussie, and an immediate heart stealer. She doesn’t know she has a disability and other than bumping into things, she acts like a normal healthy pup. Her owners knew she would need very specialized care and training, of which they couldn’t provide and, to be honest, most people would not be able to provide either. They reached out to GTAR for help and we immediately went into action.
A Huge shout out to our Foster Coordinator, Sadie for tirelessly researching and calling rescues that handle such extra special cases like Lil Helen. We found a great Rescue that deals only with Blind and/or deaf dogs. They, take them, love them, train them, and pair them with the best adopted families with lifelong help and support for the dog. This Rescue is Pink Heart Rescue , in Indiana. Another organization called Deaf Dogs Rock , helped make this possible by sponsoring Lil Helen for her care while at Pink Hearts.
Now, to get her to Pink Hearts in Indiana, in steps wonderful Pilots N Paws (not letting us tag them for some reason). This organization networks and delivers pets all across the country between rescues. All volunteered by pilots and privately owned planes. Sounds like a complicated endeavour, doesn’t it? We took in lil Helen on Friday, and within 24 hours, our amazing Sadie, had this all set up. Sweet lil Helen flew out Tues, from Grand Rapids Airport, on her way to Pink Hearts where she will be given the best life possible.
Lil Helen stole our hearts completely and we felt terribly sad (for us) to have to say goodbye, but such Joy for Lil Helen and this fabulous Opportunity.
We want to extend our deepest and heartfelt appreciation and THANKS to so many:
First off, to Helen’s original owners. They loved her so much, they wanted what was best for her and reached out to us, and made this decision completely in the best interest of this precious baby.
Secondly, Sadie, You’re Amazing and we couldn’t have brought this together without you!!
Thirdly, Deaf Dogs Rock, for sponsoring Helen thru Pink Hearts Rescue.
Pink Hearts Rescue, we are SOOOOOO thankful for you, taking in this very special lil one!
Lastly, Big Shout out to Pilots N Paws !
The first volunteer pilot: Joe O’Brien (who is also (along with his amazing girlfriend) taking such great care of little Helen until weather clears up for the second leg of her journey).
Second pilot, Johnathan will be piloting the final leg of Helen’s journey.
What a privilege to be apart of this venture and to be blessed by Helen’s sweet lil Spirit. We Love you, Lil Helen and wish you all the Best!

Helen arrives in Indianapolis the week of 3/13/23 and a big shout out goes out to Pilots N Paws (Joe O’Brien and Johnathan) for piloting Helen to Pink Heart Rescue.
