Meet adoptable deaf 3.5 year old Luna who is looking for a person or family that will make time for her, cherish her, teach her new sign cues, boundaries and always keep her safe.

From her current caregiver: I adopted Luna from Henderson Animal shelter in June 2021 at the age of 7 weeks old. Luna is now 3 1/2 years old. Initially she was brought into my family for my teenage stepson, but she quickly proved to be too much for him. My teenage daughter stepped up to take on Luna’s care. Growing up around animals and working at a veterinarian hospital she was and is more than capable. I have worked with Luna on basic commands like sit, stay, shake, and fetch. Potty training has proved to be a challenge so she still has accidents unless you are paying attention to her while she is wandering around. My daughter is now an adult and isn’t taking care of Luna the way that she deserves to be treated. This has been a point of contention in my home.

Writing this is proving to be challenging for me because Luna is an amazing sweet young dog. She has so much energy and personality and just wants to be loved. I work during the day, and my fiancé at night, so we are doing our best to have her out of her kennel when we are home. She has been left out at night to roam, but has went into the trash, and turned on my stovetop several times. We cannot leave her unattended.

I have 4 cats in my home so Luna is familiar with them and does not try to harm them. She wants to play with them, but my cats have no desire to play with her. Luna is medium/large dog friendly as well. She loves dog parks, and doggie daycare. She does get hot spots regularly, and has an allergic reaction to chicken. Luna is kennel trained as well. She plays fetch, loves tennis balls, and tearing apart a good stuffy. She is up to date on all of her shots and walks well on a leash.

She has not been around young children, but she LOVES people, so 8+ age kids would probably be amazing fun for her. She does not realize that she is a medium/large dog so lap snuggles happen regularly. She also loves to sleep and cuddle in bed. At this point I want to see Luna prosper and have an amazing love filled life with a family that will make time for her.
