Meet adoptable deaf 7 year old American Bulldog Luna who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her, become her new best friend, and always keep her safe. Luna needs to be in an Adult only home (or with older kids 12+) and also be an only pet because of her resource guarding tendencies with food, chews and toys.

From her caregivers: We need to rehome Luna after six plus years so that she will have a better life and thrive. We are all devastated but with two grandchildren and three other family dogs, she needs more peace. Specifically, a house with no other animals.

Things to know about sweet Luna:
*Her birthday is February 14th – Valentine’s Day
*We rescued her when she was 6 months old
*She was born deaf – so no reaction/fear of loud noises (ie- delivery trucks, the doorbell ringing, fireworks, etc.)
*She is e-collared trained and enjoys going on off-leash hikes/adventures
*She is a quick learner and knows hand signals (very food motivated)
*She is great in the car
*She loves to play
*She does have resource guarding issues with the other dogs (ie- her food, her toys, etc.) – she needs to be in an only pet household so she can be happy and for her to thrive
*She likes to snuggle up in her humans in bed at night

Notes from our dog-sitter, Anne:
“Luna is a wonderful dog. As her sitter, I can attest to her sweet, silly, and sassy nature. As a deaf dog, she does require a bit more love and understanding. Luna understands sign language and is skilled at reading your body language. Luna would benefit by being the only pet, but slow introductions may work. She can be leery of strangers; looking to her trusted humans for reassurance and she responds well. Experience with bully breeds is a plus. She needs a firm, calm, and patient person. Luna loves to play with her toys, go on long walks, and play hide-n-seek. I do think she is an amazing dog and I can continue to be her sitter if Luna remains in the area and if my schedule permits.”

We will work closely with qualified adopters to make sure the situation is right for both parties. We want to ensure everyone is set-up for success.

Luna’s adoption fee is $300 (to a screened and approved home only) and you must live within 2 hours of Incline Village NV to be considered for adoption. If you are interested in adopting Luna, please email Bob at: bobonwine@gmail.com
