Meet adoptable deaf, five year old Rottweiler mix Lucy who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish, teach her new sign cues and always keep her safe.

From her shelter advocate: Lucy is a 68lb 5 year old spayed Rottweiler mix. She is much smaller than most Rottweilers and she is extremely affectionate too! We learned that she is deaf and our hope is that someone will see the amazing dog that she is and care less about her hearing disability. Owning a deaf dog is a special kind of ownership, it requires commitment to training, building a strong bond and making sure to have a lot of fun along the way. Lucy will keep you smiling with her goofy personality. Lucy walks beautifully on leash and is instantly friends with anyone she meets. It doesn’t seem like she’s had very much obedience training we know she knows sit, and she fortunately/unfortunately likes to gently jump up and give hugs.

As of today 4/25/25, she is entering foster care to get a break from the shelter life. Originally she was a resident at Haven Humane Society from January 2025 to April 2025, located in Redding California. Our shelter staff met her and fell in love with her outgoing and happy personality, we then transferred her to our shelter in Chico at Butte Humane Society. She has been in our care and while she one of the easiest and friendliest dogs at the shelter we hope to learn a bunch more about her from her foster parent.
