Update 7/9/18 – This is a great example how we say, just because the meet and greet goes well, doesn’t mean that it will work! The dogs still decide!
Remember Deaf Leon? Leon was adopted, did that meet and greet and went to his new home. Well the dogs decided, they just didn’t like each other! ( Even with a trainer involved!) The new adopters were broken hearted. So Leon, who has been at the shelter since Nov. 2017, is still waiting to find his forever home. He is being very patient but getting restless!
This boy is super smart and VERY TREAT MOTIVATED
Please consider making deaf Leon a part of your family. He just wants someone to be his best buddy.
*****Please share with your friends so we can find this guy his forever home!
****3 hours of private training is included with his adoption
Meet adoptable deaf dog Leon who is looking for a loving home with someone who will cherish him and always keep him safe.
From the shelter: This sweet fella Leon is deaf. He, does, however, know and respond very well to hand signals. His “sit” is perfect. He does a “down” command and will give you his paw for a “shake or give me five”. This boy is super smart and since he is very treat motivated he will be easy to train new sign commands using positive reinforcement training methods.
Leon is learning to walk on a leash without thinking it’s more fun to use the leash as a tug-of-war toy. His favorite game is tug-of-war so this is a work in progress (might be a good idea not to play tug of war with him when he is in training). Leon is a sweet wiggly fella who simply wants security and a happy home with someone who has experience with deaf dogs or who is committed to working with a trainer so that you both can have the best relationship possible.
An approved adopter will get a vibrating collar and if in area, 3 personal training sessions.
Leon is looking for his best friend to complete his life, be part of a family and have a new best friend.
