Kenji is a deaf one year old Sheepdoodle who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who is familiar with working with deaf dogs with anxiety to provide a positive reinforcement environment with a daily structured routine and lots of enrichment.
From his caregiver: I adopted Kenji from a breeder who was pairing merle to merle. I worked hard on his training, and he was doing great until I had him neutered at a year old. He became very anxious after that. Over the past year, he will no longer go in his crate without panicking, so bad that he bloodied his nose and mouth trying to escape.
I can’t have guests over anymore, as he barks, and cowers in a corner shaking. I’ve tried several medications recommended by my vet, but nothing has helped. He is fully vaccinated and healthy in every other way. He has never bitten anybody, but I’m a dog groomer, and he will bark and snap at the dogs as I carry them down to my grooming area. I used to be able to crate him while I was working/grooming, but can no longer do that. Life has become so stressful because of this, and I don’t get much sleep at night with him pacing around. I have to sleep on the couch, or he will whine and pace when he can’t see me. My health, physically and mentally is terrible because of this. I don’t want to euthanize him, so this is my last option.
