As of June 20, 2017 our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy/Shelter Dog Program has sponsored 72 deaf dogs and puppies into partner organizations.
This July has been very busy for our Deaf Dogs Rock organization. In July Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 20 deaf dogs and puppies into partner organizations. Each organization we work with works very hard to get each deaf dog into a loving and experienced deaf dog foster home where each dog can start learning their sign commands with positive reinforcement training methods. The fosters also work on socialization, potty training, crate training, and learning a daily routine. Through the fostering programs each deaf pup gets to decompress, learn new things, have a structured positive learning environment, and be evaluated properly while potential adopters are being thoroughly screened.
Thank you so much to each and every one of these amazing organizations who continue to step up each time we reach out to them and ask them for help. Also a huge thanks to our Deaf Dogs Rock community who continues to donate to our cause so we continue to sponsor deaf dogs in need and keep them out of kill shelters and have them transported into the safe havens of our rescue partners.
Here is a recap of the Rocker Puppies who came into these special programs. Each one will go onto be adopted and continue their training.
July 2017 Rocker Puppy/Shelter Dog Rescue Sponsorship Recipients
Luna
Thanks to Green Dogs Unleashed for taking taking sweet Luna into their awesome program!
Damien
A big shout out and thank you to Lennox’s Legacy Rescue in Decatur IN for pulling Damien and getting him into the safety of their rescue. Because of our Deaf Dogs Rock community we were able to offer a $200 rescue sponsorship and we sent it to Lennox’s Legacy Rescue to help with his vetting costs.
Dot
A big shout out and thanks to Lumberjack Animal Rescue in Springhill LA for pulling Dot to safety and getting her into foster care.
Four Cocker Spaniel Puppies – GDU
Deaf Dogs Rock sponsored four beautiful Cocker Spaniel puppies into GDU in the month of July (2 deaf and 2 deaf/vision impaired). It is unusual to get deaf cocker spaniel puppies into rescue because they can usually hear and these four came from breeding two tri-color cockers which is even more unusual to see deafness when breeding two tri-colored. Thanks to GDU for making the commitment to take these sweet puppies and getting them into a wonderful foster home.
Junior and Bonnie
Thanks to the Deaf Dog Rescue of American for rescuing Junior and Bonnie. The Deaf Dogs Rescue of America is one of our West coast rescue partners who does a wonderful job rescuing, fostering and training deaf puppies/dogs as well as screening each applicant to make sure each adoption is a good match. If you are on the West Coast and have been thinking about adopting a deaf dog please check out their deaf dogs available for adoption by clicking here. It gives us great pleasure to sponsor Junior and Bonnie to help with their vetting so they can be spayed/neutered before they go to their new forever homes.
Dylan
Thanks to Karla with iRescue for pulling Dylan from the shelter. Check out Dylan’s beautiful ears (that don’t work)! iRescue was very busy this month and also said yest to deaf boxer Gracie and deaf Aussie/shepherd Sheep.
Gracie
10 month old boxer Gracie
Sheep is happy to be at iRescue!
Ghost
Thanks to Piece of Heaven Animal Rescue for coming to the rescue of Ghost (formally Mago) from Memphis Animal Services. We put out several rescue please for him and thank goodness a wonderful rescue stepped up to save him. Thanks to Stephanie Fletcher for keeping Deaf Dogs Rock in the loop so we could sponsor Ghost and help him out.
Winter and Landon
We sent a lot of deaf puppies in need to iRescue this month and every single time they stepped up and said “yes” and we are so thankful for all the work they do. Here is two more of our Rocker Puppy recipients Winter and Landon. They will be available for adoption soon through iRescue.
Boo and Lucy
When we got Boo’s adoption listing we reached out to see if we could get Boo into rescue so he would have a great start to his new life. He has severe crate anxiety so he will need some positive reinforcement training to help work through his anxiety. We reached out to Green Dogs Unleashed and as luck would have it one of GDU’s volunteers was leaving Michigan and heading to Virginia so Boo got to catch a ride and was picked up on Friday and made it all the way to GDU in Troy VA by Saturday night. Boo is now in foster care and he is also one of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy recipients so he will be sponsored by our rocking community. Thanks to GDU for making room for Boo. Isn’t he just the cutest little aussie/corgi mix ever? GDU also stepped up to help little aussie girl Lucy so she was also transported to Virginia. Thanks GDU!
Kingston
From Dallas Dog RRR
When we read about Kingston’s urgent plight,Deaf Dogs Rock offered a medical sponsorship to help out with Kingston’s vet bills. It is with a heavy heart we learn that deaf dog Kingston crashed while at the vet and passed away. Thanks to Dallas Dog RRR Rescue.Rehab, Reform for showing Kingston love and compassion his final hours. We appreciate everything you all did to try to save him.
From Dallas Dog RRR Facebook page: Kingston passed away at 2:35 from cardiac arrest and attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. We are heartbroken for this tragic loss but comforted knowing that Kingston knew love and comfort in the last few days instead of dying a slow death on the streets all alone. Thank you everyone for your prayers and donations to help give Kingston a fighting chance. He was dearly loved and will be missed.
KINGSTON IS CRASHING. He is slowly dying and has less than 50% chance of recovering from an acute kidney and pancreatic failures. He was rescued last weekend from Dowdy Ferry Rd with a huge infected wound in his neck and taken to 2 vets but in the last few days his condition deteriorated and he started crashing completely after yesterday’s vet visit. We do not know what is causing this but Kingston is fighting for his life right now and we need your help. His estimate at er for 12 hours is $1700-$2800 and if he makes it till the morning he will require at least 3 more days of intensive around the clock care. Kingston is deaf, he was attacked by dogs and has multiple bite wounds and scars, he was starved and when he finally thought he is safe life kicked him in the guts one more time and he is battling for his life. He has made it through so much, he deserves to live, he deserves a fighting chance. Please help us make sure we can afford him the best possible care because that is what this boy deserves.
Medical sponsorship to Amazing Aussies Lethal White Rescue of AZ for eye examines.
Deaf Dogs Rock sent in $300 to Amazing Aussies Lethal White Rescue of Arizona to help with some of the eye examine costs for these deaf and vision impaired aussies.
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to read our Rocker Puppy recipient support stories. Every dollar that is raised goes to help deaf dogs and puppies in need.
According to my deaf dogs Nitro, Bud, Bowie and Cornell, our supporters totally rock! ~ Christina Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock
