Thank you to all of our supporters who donated to Deaf Dogs Rock in the month of July 2020 to keep our mission going! The core mission of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy program is to set up each deaf puppy/dog for success by sending them into a experienced special needs rescue where they go into a experienced deaf dog foster home that is committed to training and socializing each deaf dog that comes into their care. This way each foster advocate gets the opportunity to live with the deaf dog, work with the deaf dog, and accurately evaluate each deaf dog/puppy to make sure to match the dog with the right home once the adoption screening process starts.

Deaf Dogs Rock works with shelters, rescues, private individual and breeders to help get each deaf puppy into our Rocker Puppy program to make sure each dog gets the individual training, socialization, and love to grow up to become a cherished member of society. Deaf Dogs Rock is a judgement free zone and our number one priority will always be to help deaf dogs and puppies get a fresh start and a chance at a great life.

When screening potential homes for a deaf dog/puppy, each partner rescue has a specific set of guidelines to follow like checking all references, talking to the applicant’s veterinarian and performing a thorough home visit to make sure each home is a safe place for a deaf or deaf/blind dog. This is why our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy is so important to set each deaf pup up for a successful happy life in their new home. Our Rocker Puppy program financially sponsors each deaf dog/puppy so the dogs can be spay/neutered before they are adopted to a new family. We only work with rescue partners and advocacy organizations who are committed in making sure each deaf pup is spay/neutered before being placed in a new home.

Even though donations stopped in mid March, due to the Coronavirus, that did not stop us from continuing to sponsor deaf dogs in need. Our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community sponsored 17 deaf dogs/puppies in July, 2020 which is a huge accomplishment considering we are in the middle of a Pandemic. Thanks to the financial support of our loyal Deaf Dogs Rock community, we can continue to help deaf dogs in need. So far since our start of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program we have sponsored 776 deaf dogs (as of 7/31/20).

So far in 2020, our Deaf Dogs Rock community has sponsored 108 deaf dogs/pups into the safe arms of rescue. We could not do it without your on going support!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! ~ Christina Lee

Tate – Poet’s Vision Aussie Rescue – Perth Ontario

This little one was having seizures and major ear infections. When we heard from Poet’s Vision Aussie rescue who was trying to help this little one, we had to help. Tate will be sponsored by our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program. We hope the vets can help with his ear infections and maybe with any luck he will get his hearing back.

Georgie and GiGi – Speak St. Louis

Sweet deaf Cocker Spaniel puppies Georgie and Gigi made their way to Speak St. Louis Rescue to go into foster care, start their touch training (they are both deaf and blind), get them socialized and get all their vetting done to get them ready for very special homes in the future. Both Georgie and Gigi are recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy program which will help their rescue Speak St. Louis get their vetting done and leave them additional resources to help the next deaf dog coming into their rescue.

5 Dogo Argentino pups – DC Dogos Inc

When Pamela Fay with DC Dogos Inc. Rescue reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock to see if we could help with Rocker Puppy sponsorships for 5 deaf and unilaterally deaf Dogo puppies we were happy to assist. Even though both parents of the pups were tested and papered and were considered an “oops” litter. Both parents are being spay/neutered. The owner was also diagnosed with Cancer so DC Dogos Inc. Rescue stepped into help get the puppies to rescue. This unfortunately happens with breeds that lack color pigmentation and with the pups going into foster care with DC Dogos they will get the vetting they need, they will all be spayed/neutered before going to their new homes so none of these puppies will pass on their deafness to new generations. Thanks to your donations these 5 deaf pups will now be taken care of and go into new loving homes once they become available for adoption through DC Dogos Inc. Rescue

Luna and Oscar – Happy Tails Animal Rescue

It is so hard when there are deaf pups way out in the Midwest in the state of North Dakota because transport can be challenging. Happy Tails Animal Rescue recently found out about these two little deaf Double Merle Aussie pups Luna and Oscar who were along way away in North Dakota.  Deaf Dogs Rock had to help by offering a Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Sponsorship to go towards their spay/neuter surgeries once they arrived in Oklahoma. Moria Turner with Happy Tails arranged a long distance rescue transport to get these two deaf Aussie pups from North Dakota all the way down to Oklahoma. It took a lot of wonderful volunteers who volunteered their time (and gas) to get these two little ones in the safe arms of a special needs rescue. Thanks to our Deaf Dogs Rock rocking community we can sponsor some of their medical needs through our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Program. Thanks to everyone who supports our mission to save one deaf dog at a time.

Speak St. Louis – Eliza

When we heard from a woman named Janet that she needed help finding her deaf Aussie Eliza a new home we offered to work with her and contact our partner rescue Speak St. Louis to see if they could make room for this special girl. Speak jumped at the chance to help and met Janet to pick Eliza up. We offered Speak St. Louis a Rocker Puppy sponsorship for Eliza if they could make room for her in their program. We are fortunate that Eliza was within a 4 hour drive of the Speak Team and she arrived to Speak on July 10. We are so happy for Eliza that she can now start on her new journey and find a loving forever home.

We would also like to thank our dear friends Vern and Patricia Kerst who are two of our biggest supporters who raise money though their design business of redesigning/repurposing old furniture and bringing it back to life. A portion of their proceeds is donated to Deaf Dogs Rock so we can continue to sponsor deaf dogs like Cookie and Diamond.

Diamond from Almost Home in Texas to Green Dogs Unleashed in Troy VA

Thanks to our friend Caroline and her Almost Home Pet Rescue warriors for saving Diamond and keep her safe. She was transported by the Highway Heroes Rescue Transport Team from Katy Texas to Troy VA to Green Dogs Unleashed Rescue. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped her get into a special needs rescue where she can learn new things and find her loving forever family. Thanks to all of our supporters who continue to support us so we can sponsor deaf pups like Diamond into rescue and help with their vetting costs.

Rocky – Green Dogs Unleashed

When a lady reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock about a little Double Merle Aussie puppy who needed help, we were only to glad to help little Rocky. We reached out to Green Dogs Unleashed rescue here in Virginia to see if they would have an open foster for Rocky and they had room. We want to thank all the volunteer drivers with Highway Heroes Rescue Transport Team for safely getting Rocky to Va. We also want to thank Bonnie Seagle who let Rocky spend the night the day before he arrived at GDU.

The timing of Rocky arriving on the weekend of 7/19 was perfect because Melissa Shapiro and Piglet the deaf blind pink puppy sent in a donation to Deaf Dogs Rock so we can continue to sponsor deaf dogs just like Piglet into rescue. Thank you Piglet and Melissa!

New Spirit 4 Aussie Rescue – Sydney

We want to thank New Spirit 4 Aussie Rescue for pulling sweet senior Sydney out of the shelter and getting her into the safe arms of rescue. Our Deaf Dogs Rock community is sponsoring Sydney so she can receive some vetting while she is in foster care waiting for her forever home.

Leo – Happy Tails Animal Rescue

When we heard from a person who had a litter of Aussie Shepherd puppies and discovered one little boy was deaf we reached out to our friends at Happy Tails Animal Rescue to see if they could make room for sweet deaf puppy Leo. Thanks to Moria and her Team they transported Leo into their rescue and into a loving and safe foster home where he will learn new things and get the vetting he needs to become available for adoption.

Hank – Green Dogs Unleashed

Thanks to our friends at Green Dogs Unleashed for agreeing to take in sweet deaf Dalmatian puppy Hank. Hank’s person purchased him from a breeder but when she realized he was deaf and she was working a lot she decided to put Hank first and she reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock for help. Hank was in Michigan so Erika with Green Dogs Unleashed reached out to Rose Adler (with Keller’s Cause) to see if Rose could pick up Hank and get some of his vetting done while transport to Virginia is being arranged. Hank is the recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Sponsorship program so his vetting will be done before he goes to a new home. He will be at Green Dogs Unleashed in their puppy training program for a while before he will be available for adoption.

Eddy – Happy Tails Rescue

When a young lady named Gabby reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock asking for assistance with deaf blue heeler Eddy we reached out to our friend Moria Turner with Happy Tails Animal Rescue in OK to see if she could make room for Eddy in her special needs rescue. Not only did Moria step up to the plate she had a rescue transport arranged within 4 hours of when I first contacted her. Eddy will be with Happy Tails in foster care learning new things, getting his vetting completed while potential homes are being carefully screened.

***17 deaf dogs made it safely to special needs rescues in the month of July because of your generous support. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
