Meet adoptable deaf heeler Jemma who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her, make daily positive reinforcement training/enrichment/exercise a priority and always keep her safe.

From her current caregiver: Sweet Jemma is a 5 year old Mini Aussie/Blue Heeler mix, who has been deaf since the day I brought her home at the age of 12 weeks.
She is a real beauty with her white and blue merle coat; although not a huge fan of the bath, she can’t help but get the post bath zoomies!
She is very energetic and can play fetch for hours, she always brings the ball back and sets it at your feet. This is the main reason I’m needing to rehome my sweet girl, she needs a yard and someone with time to invest in her.

Jemma has had sign language training, and can recall several commands immediately, including; sit, wait, come here, and a release wave. With some treat motivation, she is an amazing walking buddy, given that you let her sniffer work some overtime!
***No children in the household*** Jemma does have a history of being reactive towards children who are uneducated on how to interact with a deaf dog. Where she is an amazing home companion, she does get frightened in public. I have found that the more positive reinforcements (ie treats) are involved, the better any situation can be. For someone who can put in more than the 30 minutes a week I’ve invested, she will make such an awesome dog! If you are interested in meeting her please email Dakota for more information.
