In the first month of the new year, January 2026, we saw that shelters all over the country are over crowded with dogs and cats. Unfortunately from these over crowded shelters, we are seeing more and more deaf and deaf/blind dogs and puppies who need rescue and need rescue sponsorship funding. Many of our rescue partners are currently on intake hold because they are all so overwhelmed with so many requests to take in deaf and deaf/blind dogs.

The core mission of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program is to set up each deaf dog or puppy for success by networking and sponsoring them into a experienced special needs rescues where they can go into a experienced deaf dog foster homes. The foster homes are committed to training and socializing each deaf dog that comes into their care before they are available for adoption. This way, each foster advocate gets the opportunity to live with the deaf pup for awhile, work with the deaf dog, and accurately evaluate each deaf dog/puppy to make sure the organization makes the very best match for each deaf dog when it comes to finding the right home for that particular deaf dog. We donate to our partner rescues to ensure each deaf dog is fully vetted before they go to a new home (spayed/neutered). We have seen many deaf dogs go on to become valued therapy partners.

It takes a thoughtful and giving tribe of animal lovers to support Deaf Dogs Rock to continue to carry out our mission of helping one deaf shelter dog at a time. Deaf Dogs Rock spends between $2500 and $4000.00 each month on Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorships.  If you would like to help sponsor a deaf dog out of a kill shelter into the safe arms of rescue, please click here to Donate.

If you would like to donate in honor of a person, your deaf dog or in memory of one of your pets, you can send us a photo for our Honor/Memory Wall and donate here.

Every single day on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page you will see us put up Rescue plea posts and offer of rescue sponsorship funding for each deaf dog in need hoping to find rescues who can take the deaf and deaf/blind pups. We share deaf and deaf/blind dogs that are currently be held in shelters across the country trying to get deaf dogs out of over crowded shelters before they are euthanized to make space for more intakes. Sometimes a deaf dog who is surrendered only has a day or two for the opportunity to be pulled by a reputable foster based rescue. For this reason you will see our organization Deaf Dogs Rock offer $250-$300 (urgent medical can go up to $400 to $500) rescue sponsorship on almost every rescue plea we post up on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page. By offering a rescue sponsorship we encourage rescues to help a deaf dog in need. Without the financial sponsorship offers to help with each deaf dog’s vetting expenses, many of the deaf shelter dogs would parish and surely die within a few days.

Deaf Dogs Rock works directly with shelters, rescues, sanctuaries, private individuals, and breeders to help get each deaf puppy into our Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program and into rescue. By doing so, each deaf pup gets the individual training, vetting, socialization, and TLC to grow up to become a cherished member of society. Deaf Dogs Rock is a judgement free zone and our number one priority will always be to help deaf and deaf/visually impaired dogs and puppies get a fresh start and a chance at a great life.

When our rescue partners screen potential new homes for a deaf dog/puppy, each rescue has a specific set of guidelines to follow when considering a new home for example; like checking all references, talking to the applicant’s veterinarian, and performing a thorough home visit to make sure each home is a safe place for a deaf or deaf/blind dog. This is why our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue Sponsorship program is so important to get the deaf dog out of the shelter (or from an individual) and help our partner rescues set up each deaf pup for a successful happy life in their new home. We do this by helping each rescue with vetting expenses so each puppy ends up in a rescue that specifically advocates for them and fully vets each special needs pup. Our Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program financially sponsors deaf dogs/puppies so each pup can be vaccinated and spay/neutered before they are adopted to a new family. We only work with rescue partners and advocacy organizations who are committed in making sure each deaf pup is spay/neutered before being placed in a new home (unless they are Great Danes or Dalmatians which need to done after 12 months of age). We also offer each rescue courtesy adoption listings to be posted on our national website at Deaf Dogs Rock by targeting experienced deaf dog homes looking to add a new deaf dog to their families.

Our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community sponsored another 9 deaf dogs/pups into rescue in January, 2026 which is a huge accomplishment in a struggling economy.  So far since the beginning of our Rocker Dog/Puppy Program several years ago, Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 1827 deaf dogs into rescue (as of 01/31/26).

Below is our January 2026 Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy/Dog Rescue Sponsorship recaps….

Lorelei – Detroit Animal Welfare Group (DAWG)

When one of our Deaf Dogs Rock community members sent us a link to sweet deaf/blind Frenchie puppy Lorelei (thank you John), we knew we had to send in a medical sponsorship for her to help with her vetting. She was in pretty bad shape when she came into the Detroit Animal Welfare Group (DAWG).

Here is what DAWG posted on New Year’s Day: Lorelei is a frenchie mix that was found as a stray in a park. She is approx 6 mos old, emaciated, dehydrated, blind, deaf and has severe demodex mange with secondary skin infection. Despite her very rough start to life she is very sweet and needs a new start! She is just a doll
If you can help us help this puppy out with a donation we would greatly appreciate it! She gets around quite well for being blind and deaf.

When we saw their plea for help, we knew Deaf Dogs Rock could help so we sent in a $500 medical sponsorship to go towards her upcoming vetting so Lorelei is a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy/Dog Rescue Sponsorship program.

Merlin and Guinevere – Speak Rescue and Sanctuary – MO

Above: Merlin

When our friends at Speak Rescue and Sanctuary rescued an entire litter of Double Merle six week old puppies that were sick, we were happy to sponsor the two deaf puppies in the litter to help the rescue with upcoming vetting and care expenses.

From our friends at Speak: Without that quick response, these puppies may not have made it, especially Merlin, who arrived extremely lethargic and constipated. And it wasn’t the cold that posed the greatest danger, it was what was happening in their tiny 2-lb bodies. These babies have been battling a severe infestation of intestinal worms. Most puppies are born with some worms, which is why they must be treated every two weeks. When they aren’t, the parasites multiply to dangerous levels — stealing nutrients, causing anemia, stunting growth, and in severe cases leading to blockages, organ failure, or respiratory distress when the worms migrate to the lungs. So, while we are sharing some adorable pics of these puppies, just know this week has been far from “just cute.” It has been a week full of round the clock care.

Both Merlin and Guinevere are direct recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy rescue sponsorship program to help the rescue with their upcoming vetting expenses.

Lotus – Fureverhomes Doberman Rescue Inc

Thanks to Fureverhomes Doberman Rescue Inc (East Coast rescue) for pulling 6 year old deaf Doberman Lotus out of the Antioch CA Animal Shelter. Although Fureverhomes is very much an East Coast Rescue they have two fosters in CA and were lucky enough to secure a foster placement for Lotus in CA. We love rescue partners who require each foster to adopt home to build a strong positive reinforcement training requirement for their adoptable dogs. Sweet Lotus will get the training foundation he needs to become the very best deaf Doberman he can be. Lotus is a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy/Dog Rescue Sponsorship Program to help Fureverhomes Doberman Rescue with his upcoming vetting expenses.

Levi – Speak Rescue and Sanctuary

We were so happy to see our friends at Speak Rescue and Sanctuary transport two year old Australian Shepherd Levi into rescue. Levi is a sweet, gentle and affectional deaf dog who will be looking for a calm environment soon after he has settled in. Levi is a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy/Dog Rescue Sponsorship fund to help Speak with his upcoming vetting expenses and care to get him ready for adoption in the near future.

Perlina – Northwest Boxer Rescue – Nitro’s Fund

When we saw sweet 5 month old deaf Boxer puppy Perlina on the Northwest Boxer Rescue social media pages we know we had to help. Perlina was very sick when she entered the NWBR. She was very skinny, had kennel cough, giardia and coccidia. We contacted NWBR to see if we could sponsor her spay surgery and vetting through Nitro’s Fund. As of 1/21/26.

We were able to help out with a vetting sponsorship for deaf puppy Perlina with Northwest Boxer Rescue through our Nitro’s Fund which is set up to help deaf boxer pups (like our hero dog Nitro) to help each rescue with the vetting. Perlina is officially a recipient of our Nitro’s Fund. If you would like to give to Nitro’s Fund in honor or memory of your deaf boxer, please click here.

Seven – Perfectly Imperfect Pups (PIPs) – North Carolina

When a woman in North Carolina reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock with a deaf/blind puppy named Seven, we reached out to Perfectly Imperfect Pups Rescue near Raleigh NC to see if we could sponsor Seven into their rescue. Nicole with PIPs got right back to us and said she could make room for Seven. Since Seven was located only 1.5 hours from Raleigh, all the planets aligned and now Seven is safely with Perfectly Imperfect Pups Rescue heading to the vet. Seven has not had any vetting prior to going into rescue so Deaf Dogs Rock is making Seven a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Rescue Sponsorship program to help Nicole and her team with PIPs with Seven’s vetting expenses. We want to thank Nicole and her team for following up and getting Seven into their special needs rescue where he will go on to be vetted to get ready for adoption.

Flurry – Speak Rescue and Sanctuary in MO

As we were getting ready for the huge snow storm heading our way, our friends at Speak Rescue and Sanctuary saved sweet 6 week old deaf Aussie Flurry from certain death.

Here is what Speak shared with us: “As much of the country braces for snow this weekend, we thought it was the perfect time to introduce Flurri, who blew in just ahead of this significant winter storm. Flurri is a super floofy double merle Australian Shepherd/Corgi. At only 5-weeks old, the owner had sent his littermates to homes, but because Flurri is deaf, no one wanted him and by 6-weeks old, the owner thought it best to shoot him. Thankfully, a neighbor stepped in, reached out to a friend…who reached out to another friend…who reached out to another friend who shared his story on Facebook. Soon after, several concerned people contacted us to help and of course, we did.”

Flurry is a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Rescue Sponsorship program to help Speak Rescue and Sanctuary with Flurry’s upcoming vetting expenses.

Mitzi – Perfectly Imperfections Rescue – CT

Sweet deaf Maltese/Pekingese mix Mitzi came to Perfect Imperfections Rescue in CT so matted that she had to be shaved down to relieve her of the pain of being so matted. She is only about a year old. Mitzi is a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy/Dog Rescue sponsorship program to help Perfect Imperfections with her upcoming care and vetting.
