Thank you to all of our supporters who donated to Deaf Dogs Rock in the month of January 2021 to keep our mission going! After sponsoring 24 deaf dogs into rescue in December, January came in to a close second with sponsorships of 19 deaf dogs into rescue. Wow what a busy time!  The core mission of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program is to set up each deaf puppy/dog for success by sending them into a experienced special needs rescue where they go into a experienced deaf dog foster homes who are committed to training and socializing each deaf dog that comes into their care. This way each foster advocate gets the opportunity to live with the deaf dog, work with the deaf dog, and accurately evaluate each deaf dog/puppy to make sure the organization makes a great match for each deaf dog with the right home once the adoption screening process starts.

Deaf Dogs Rock works with shelters, rescues, private individual and breeders to help get each deaf puppy into our Rocker Puppy sponsorship program and into rescue. By doing so, each deaf pup gets the individual training, socialization, and love to grow up to become a cherished member of society. Deaf Dogs Rock is a judgement free zone and our number one priority will always be to help deaf dogs and puppies get a fresh start and a chance at a great life.

When screening potential homes for a deaf dog/puppy, each partner rescue has a specific set of guidelines to follow like checking all references, talking to the applicant’s veterinarian and performing a thorough home visit to make sure each home is a safe place for a deaf or deaf/blind dog. This is why our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy is so important to set each deaf pup up for a successful happy life in their new home. Our Rocker Puppy sponsorship program financially sponsors each deaf dogs/puppies so the dogs can be vaccinated and spay/neutered before they are adopted to a new family. We only work with rescue partners and advocacy organizations who are committed in making sure each deaf pup is spay/neutered before being placed in a new home. If you would like to donate to our Rocker Puppy sponsorship program, please click here.

Our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community sponsored 19 deaf dogs/puppies in January, 2021 which is a huge accomplishment considering we are in the middle of a Pandemic. Thanks to the financial support of our loyal Deaf Dogs Rock community, we can continue to help deaf dogs in need. So far since our start of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program we have sponsored 893 deaf dogs (as of 01/31/21) into rescue.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! ~ Christina Lee

Zeus and Sailor – Deaf Dog Rescue of America

Zeus is a deaf 2 year old Great Pyrenees who was at a kill shelter with a littermate who had gotten adopted. Deaf Dog Rescue of America stepped it to retrieve him so he could get training at their rescue center and find a loving home. Zeus will be sponsored through our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Sponsorship program to help him with his vetting so he can get prepared and set up for success prior to finding his forever home.

Sweet deaf boxer Sailor was picked up as a stray and taken to a shelter. His people never came to claim him so he is sponsored into the Deaf Dog Rescue of America through Nitro’s Fund. To learn more about Nitro’s Fund, please click here.

Yuki and Snirt – Speak St. Louis

When our friends at Speak St. Louis rescue heard about two Double Merle 4 week old deaf/blind puppies who had been dumped in Kentucky they jumped into action to get these two little ones into rescue. Yuki (top) and Snirt (merle face) are now safe and are recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Sponsorship program.

Thanks to our supporters Vern and Patricia who work diligently upcycling furniture to raise funds to help us sponsor deaf dogs into rescue. The first four deaf dogs of the year 2021 have all been sponsored by Pat and Vern. Thanks to them Zeus, Sailor, Yuki and Snirt are all sponsored by Vern and Patricia. It is supporters like them who are committed in helping us sponsor and help one deaf dog at time.

Roxanne – Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge in Dallas PA

When Emma with Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock to network Roxanne aka Roxy for adoption, I let them know we can’t list an adult deaf dog who is still intact so we offered to sponsor Roxanne’s spay surgery by sending in a medical sponsorship for her. Once she gets over her UTI she will have her spay surgery performed and then she will be listed on our website and available for adoption.

Buck – Green Dogs Unleashed

Thanks to the good volunteers at Dogs Deserve Better Blue Ridge for getting Buck’s owners to surrender him. Buck will be sponsored into Green Dogs Unleashed rescue here in Virginia by our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Sponsorship program so he can get his vetting done before he is available for adoption.

Merlin – Green Dogs Unleashed Rescue

Deaf Dogs Rock was contacted by a shelter in Mass. and they had a deaf dog they had pulled from another shelter because it was deaf and the shelter was not going to make the deaf border collie Merlin adoptable. So once Merlin was safe in the new facility at Milton Animal League, their staff member reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock to see if we could help. We reached out to Erika at Green Dogs Unleashed Rescue to see if she had room for Merlin in her program and she did. As luck would have it Erika also has a volunteer in the area that could bring Merlin all the way back from MA to Virginia (it takes a tribe of rescue warriors to make things happen). Thanks to Nancy with the Milton Animal League for being Merlin’s advocate and thanks to Erika’s volunteer who drove Merlin all the way from MA to VA.

Miska (Little bear) and Nanuq (Polar bear) – Speak For The Unspoken – Ohio

These two little deaf puppies were dumped by a puppy mill because they could not make any money of two deaf Double Merle puppies so Speak For The Unspoken Rescue in Ohio jumped into action to save both of them. Both Miska and Nanuq will be recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program to help cover some of their vetting before they become available for adoption. For now they are safely in a loving foster home, learning new things and new sign cues and being socialized.

Conan – The Mylo Foundation

Deaf Dogs Rock puts out many rescue pleas with a offer of sponsorship to a reputable foster based 501c3. When we saw Conan’s handsome face we put out a Rescue Plea on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page with an offer of a $200 rescue sponsorship to go towards his vetting (neuter) so he can go into foster care, be properly evaluated, get his vetting done and so the rescue can match him with a loving forever home. We were so excited to hear that The Mylo Foundation pulled Conan and got him into foster care. Conan will be sponsored through our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Program.

Wish – Critter Crusaders

Thanks to Morgan at Critter Crusaders for bringing our attention to Wish who is a deaf puppy. Wish will be a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Roc Rocker Puppy sponsorship program which will help with his neuter surgery.

Danica – Speak St. Louis

When Brittany from Pulaski Humane Society in Mo.  reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock letting us know about a deaf 5 month old puppy in their care, we offered to help. We contacted Speak St. Louis Rescue to see if they had room for this little girl and we offered a rescue sponsorship for her.

Speak St. Louis Rescue got right back to Deaf Dogs Rock and they agreed to take her into their special needs rescue. We appreciate one of their volunteers driving two hours each way to pick up Danica. We want to thank Speak St. Louis for helping us get Danica to the safe arms of rescue and to our supporters who continue to financially support Deaf Dogs Rock so we can continue to help deaf dogs out of shelters into the safe harbors of special needs rescue.

Beamer – Happiness Is No Kill Animal Rescue and Shelter

Deaf Dogs Rock put out a rescue plea to try to get a rescue to step up and help Beamer out of the shelter and out of death row. We were so glad to hear from Laura with Happiness Is No Kill Animal Rescue and Shelter letting us know they pulled Beamer into their rescue and Beamer was getting the training he needed. Ned, Bart and Francie – Speak St. Louis

So many Merle to Merle puppies being discarded for hearing and vision issues. All three are deaf and all three have vision impairments in the same eye so they are dubbed the Pirate puppies. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with transport to get these three doll babies to Speak St. Louis Rescue where they will see a vet and go into foster care to learn new things. All three will be recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program to  help with their vetting so they can become available for adoption in the near future. Thanks to the Speak St. Louis staff of rescue warriors that take on deaf and deaf/blind puppies every day and try to educate the general public about Double Merle breeding.

Jenny – DC Dogos

This is 5 week old deaf Dogo Argentino Jenny who was dumped at a Georgia Animal Control by her breeder when it her BAER test confirmed she is deaf. This is such a dangerous thing for a breeder to do. A 5 week old puppy has zero immune system and when a breeder dumps a puppy at a shelter before the puppy has had any vaccinations there is a good chance the puppy will come down with Parvo or Distemper. One of the reasons we launched our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy program is that that a breeder can reach out to us directly and we will sponsor the deaf puppy into one of our special needs partner rescues who specializes in deaf dogs. Thanks to our friends at DC Dogos Rescue  for going to pick up Jenny and get her into foster care. Thank you to Pamela Fay and Ami for always being their advocate and getting little deaf girls like Jenny into the safe arms of rescue.

Griffin  – Green Dogs Unleashed.

When we heard Griffin was losing his home we wanted to help. Griffin is sponsored into Green Dogs Unleashed in Troy Virginia through our special fund called Nitro’s Fund to help deaf dogs into rescue.

Thanks to GDU volunteer Sam for helping Deaf Dogs Rock with Griffin’s transport. I drove to Bristol TN to pick him up and Sam met me in Salem Virginia to drive the final three hours to Green Dogs Unleashed. Thanks to Erika for taking such good care of Griffin and getting him into foster care.
