Meet adoptable deaf, vision impaired, 1.9 year old Catahoula Leopard Hound mix Ivy Quinn who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her, make daily positive reinforcement training a priority and always keep her safe.
From her current caregiver:
Are you ready to welcome a truly special companion into your life? Say hello to Ivy Quinn, a charming Deaf and low-vision Catahoula Leopard Hound Mix! At approximately 1 year and 9 months old, she is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, and has the most stunning blue eyes that are even more beautiful in person!
Ivy has a joyful spirit and has been a treasured part of our family since we adopted her over a year ago. However, our adventurous RV lifestyle has proven to be a bit challenging for her, and we’ve realized that she would flourish in a more stable environment where she can truly be herself. It’s a bittersweet decision, but we know that with the right home, Ivy can thrive and live her best life!
**What Makes Ivy Special:**
– **Well-Trained and Loving:** Ivy is kennel-trained, housebroken, and understands several signs including “yes,” “sit,” “no,” “calm down/relax,” and “down.” She has a delightful personality and is eager to learn more!
– **A Perfect Solo Companion:** Ivy is a wonderful match as an only dog. She can be shy and anxious around new dogs and children, so she would thrive in a calm adult-only household that understands her unique needs.
– **Playtime Enthusiast:** This lovely girl adores playing with soft toys and chews. She has been enjoying daily visits to the dog park since we adopted her, where she gets to explore and run free!
– **Health & Nutrition:** Ivy is on a special RMF diet by holistic veterinarian Nora Lenz, which helps her stay happy and healthy. We’re happy to share all about her diet with her new family or help transition it to fit their needs.
**Ivy’s Needs:**
– A spacious home with a large yard would be perfect for Ivy to roam and play. She loves to explore and burn off energy!
– Because she is food-motivated, care should be taken with her meals around other dogs to ensure a peaceful feeding time.
– ASL (American Sign Language) training and commands in ASL
Ivy has low vision and she can’t see up close but does have some distance vision/tunnel vision. She also has some constant movement when she is upclose or trying to view something but she doesn’t have any issues with balance. She is slow to warm up to other dogs and strangers. She would need a slow introduction to any new dogs. She knows some cues like “sit”, “wait” and “stay”. Children make her nervous (because they are unpredictable and with her low vision and being deaf an Adult home would be best). When fed if there are other animals around she needs to be fed separately because she has some resource guarding tendencies towards other animals.
Ivy is ready to find her forever home where she can be the star of the show! If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and unique companion who will fill your life with joy, Ivy Quinn could be the perfect match for you!
