Do you think deafness in a dog can actually save his life? I can’t get Henley’s situation (and luck) out of my mind. I think that’s what happened with deaf puppy Henley and he also had some help from a few human Angels on his side. How can deafness save a dog’s life you ask? Last week Henley’s original owner was trying to hunt with him (he is only 10 months old) when he realized Henley is deaf. So he did what a lot of hunters would do, he took Henley to Emporia Animal Shelter/AC.
We heard from one of Henley’s rescue angels Kelly Swenson when she reached out to us for some help. They normally don’t have funds to get the Animal Control dogs vetted or neutered so when we heard about Henley we offered to help financially so it would be easier to find him a rescue commitment.
Deaf Dogs Rock offered to pay for his Vetting because Kelly (his wonderful shelter advocate) said he was peeing a lot. We also wanted him tested for Heartworm and to see if anything else was going on. The Vet discovered he had a full blown Urinary Tract Infection, Whip worms, and kennel cough but the good news was he was HW neg.
Kelly got him on antibiotics right away and this week he was neutered today because he was doing much better. Today Kelly Swenson (his Angel Advocate) picked him up and he is going to be heading over to Richmond Ruff House Rescue (his second set of Angel Advocates) here in VA.
Today we also sent RRHR sponsorship fee for Henley to make sure he is well taken care of. It takes a lot of effort, people, commitment, and financial resources for every deaf dog that makes it into rescue so I want to say to all of you, Thank you, thank you, thank you.
It’s Angels like all of you who help us help dog like Henley. Without your continued financial support we would not be able to step up for puppies like deaf hound dog Henley here. You all ROCK!
