Update 12-25-2013: Ella is doing great and a friend of mine named Kristin applied to adopt Ellie. She also took her other boxer over to meet Ellie and they go along well. There are adoption applications in for all four of Ellie’s puppies so as soon as they turn 8 weeks old (around January 15, 2014), they will all be going to new homes. One home is a friend of mine who brings her terrier Bailey out to play here at the farm so I have a feeling we will now have one of Ellie’s puppies coming out for play dates as soon as the weather warms up. Maybe Kristin can even bring Ellie out her to meet Nitro and Bud once she gets settled into her new family.  A big thank you to all of you who donated for Ellie’s care and got her out of a back yard breeding operation so she can someday know what it is like to be a loved and cherished companion. You all ROCK! ~ Christina Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock

Update 11-16-2013: Ella was rescued and because of all of your kind and generous support, Deaf Dogs Rock was able to give Angels of Assisi a check for $700.00 which will cover all of the expenses once she has puppies. This way they will all get their shots and spay and neutered as well as spaying Ella so she never has to have another litter of puppies ever again. Thank you, thank you, thank you for stepping up and helping this poor sweet pregnant girl.

Ella is currently at Lisa O’Neal’s house (she is the Director of Angels of Assisi Rescue) and now that she has been there a few days Lisa has reported that she can hear (YEAH!). Now all we have to do is pray all the puppies can hear as well but if there is one or two that can’t we will have no problem finding them good homes. Now all we have to do is wait until the puppies get here. Stay tuned!  ~ Christina Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock

I got a call from a good rescue friend of mine and for the last two days she has been helping a rescue take in about 40 dogs. Many of the rescue dogs and puppies are small breeds because the breeder was over whelmed and he wanted to get out of the business. When my friend told me about a very pregnant white boxer who would not even look in her direction (she said it was like she couldn’t hear so she would not turn around and look at her) then I knew I had to talk her into getting the boxer into rescue. I told her our Deaf Dogs Rock followers will help with expenses if she would save the dog. She just called me and she has the very pregnant white boxer. She is taking “Ella” to Angels of Assisi to be fully checked out and then hopefully go to a foster before the puppies arrive. I had a foster line up but at the last minute it fell through so we will also be searching for someone who can give up the next two months of their busy lives to help Ella give birth to her puppies.

Here is the photo of her being loaded up and rescued out of the cold. She looks so very young. She may be able to hear a little bit but I won’t know for sure until I meet her. She will most likely have one or two deaf puppies but I will cross my fingers hoping they can all hear when they come into this world.

I owe a big thank you to my friend and also Angels of Assisi Rescue even though space is very tight right now. I feel it is my duty to try to raise funds for this dog since I was very persistent in asking for the dog to be rescued. I am asking all of our DDR Rockers and followers if you all can just donate a couple of dollars so we can make sure she and all of her puppies will be well taken care of and not stress the rescue to much. They have taken in more then 40 dogs this week alone.
