Helen is a beautiful petite, 1 year old pittie who never stops smiling and she is currently looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her, become her new best friend, make her a member of a loving family and always keep her safe. Although she has limited sight and she is fully deaf, she never lets her needs hold her back from living life to the fullest. She’s currently thriving in a foster home where she’s receiving dedicated training, lots of love & even found a best friend in her special needs fur-brother.
Helen is a sweet girl known for her incredibly loving and affectionate nature. She’s a true cuddle bug who tries to sit on your shoulder like a parrot and thrives on human interaction. She will shower you with kisses and she is always eager to please. Everyone is her friend and no one is allowed to be a stranger to her.
Helen is very observant and she will quickly become your shadow. She will always want to be by your side. She does well with other pups and would love another dog in the home to lean on for companionship. She’s happy to chew her bone, and she loves to play. Helen loves other pups, but requests no cats or tiny toddlers in the home in efforts to set her up for best success.
While she is deaf and has partial vision, these challenges don’t diminish her spirit or her ability to learn. She is currently being trained using hand sign cues and she is making excellent progress. Her foster family is dedicated to helping her learn new sign cues and adapt to her environment. She is house trained, she sleeps in her crate at night and she can sit with hand signal.
Helen would be a wonderful companion for a loving family or individual who is patient, understanding, and willing to continue helping her thrive. She would love a home where she can receive plenty of attention, affection, and mental stimulation/enrichment. If you have experience with special needs dogs in the past, we will consider that a plus, but it will not be required as long as the adopter is committed to learning and adapting to her needs.
