From Helen’s Rescue advocates at Save Monroe Strays: Two months ago we pulled Helen from Friends of the River Rouge Animal Shelter where she was mentally struggling. The thought of questioning what was best for her in that state broke our hearts. We had to give her a chance to thrive. Helen has been an absolute joy to have in foster, and we love her dearly.
About a week ago we received an application after sharing Helen’s story on Deaf Dogs Rock. It’s not everyday that we receive an application for one of our animals from Pennsylvania. We knew there was something special about this family, and knew we had to meet them. Today they made the 4 hour drive to meet our best girl. We spent hours in the rain getting to know each other, their dog, Polo, and learning about all that is Helen. We knew there was a family out there for her! This family comes with plenty of rescue dog experience, deaf dog experience, and an overall love for overlooked shelter animals.
There are no words to describe how thankful we are for them. For making the drive, for getting soaked in the rain, for listening to me ramble on about how good she really is, and for loving our girl. Thank you guys from the bottom of our hearts for choosing, Helen.
Congratulations, Helen!
