Granville, (Granny), Male English Bulldog/Boxer mix. White with party spots. Deaf. 3 1/2 years old.

Granny is a super healthy deaf boxer/bulldog mix, has tested negative for Lyme and heartworms, and has had regular vet visits. He loves other dogs but can play rough, though he is sweet around small dogs. He loves physical touch hugs, and car rides, and is a great travel buddy. Because he is deaf, he isn’t stressed by other dogs barking, thunderstorms, fireworks, or loud noises. He knows sign language, “sit”, “lie down”, “come” (though he doesn’t always obey), “no, no”, “go-for-a-walk,” and “good boy.” Granny is crate trained and has a huge bladder capacity, can go 12 -13 hours when boarded overnight. He loves his 30-minute walks and is then ready for a nap. He loves the couch and thinks he’s a 67-pound lap dog. He has learned not to chew my shoes but occasionally forgets.

He does display resource guarding, especially with his yummy treats so he should be left alone when enjoying them. He does not like people he doesn’t know visiting our home and on walks as he lunges and growls at them. Though he has never bitten anyone, I ask people not to pet him. He is not a “grandma’s” dog unless grandma spends a lot of time at the gym. He is a very strong dog.

We adopted him in February of 2024, and recently found out we are going to be first-time grandparents. We do not believe Granny would be good around children. He may benefit from having a dog friend around the same age, with the same energy level and similar size. He spent several days with my daughter’s Doberman and they had a ball wearing each other out.

Interested parties must be vetted through the adoption agency where we got Granny, “For Pete Sake Animal Rescue” in Bristol, Tennessee. To apply for adoption please fill out an adoption application here to be considered for adoption: https://forpetessakerescue.com/adoption-process/
