Meet adoptable deaf 4 year old deaf/blind dog Ghost who is looking for a very special home where he will be cherished and always kept safe.

From his shelter advocate: Meet Ghost. 4 years old and both blind and deaf, the shelter is no place for a dog like him.

When we went to go pick out our foster the other day, I met Ghost. Head tilted, staring at the ground.. I was instantly drawn to him.

While we ultimately decided that a boarding facility wouldn’t be the best option for someone like Ghost (too much navigation through winding hallways and stairways), I knew I had to do SOMETHING to try and help this guy.

So I went back the next day to get some pictures of him. I want to at least get his face out there, in hopes it’ll come across the right person.

Ghost has been at the shelter for over a month, with not a single application to adopt him.

After spending 2 minutes with him yesterday, I don’t understand why.

Ghost is the “simplest” dog I think I’ve ever met. And when I say that, I mean he’s goofy as hell. He moves with the confidence of someone with 20/20 vision… and bumps into any / everything with that same confidence. (Yes, a halo would definitely be beneficial for this silly guy).

Regardless of if he can see where he’s going or not, he struts around like he’s on a mission. Bumps (more like crashes) into a wall? That’s not slowing him down. He’s on to find the next wall to bump into.

Ghost may also have a neurological disorder, judging by the tilt of his head and how he kind of can’t walk in a straight line (but it’s adorable).

Because he moves so confidently and has no spatial awareness, we believe Ghost may not have always been blind. He came to the shelter as a stray (he was found just sitting calmly in the middle of a road) and so we don’t know his history. He may be able to see shadows. And we think he may not be 100% deaf.

But what we do know is that Ghost is the definition of resilience. Despite his disabilities, he is the happiest, sweetest guy. He loves treats, is super good with dogs, and also kid friendly!

Yes, he comes with his challenges. He will need someone who is very patient and dedicated to his care. Someone who will be able to give him that extra love he so desperately needs and deserves.

I know that person is out there. He didn’t come this far for his story to end in the shelter. His people are out there, and I’m determined to find them.

So please, share this post. Get his face and name out there. Let’s help Ghost have a happy ending- one that ends in endless cuddles, and a warm bed to sleep in every night.

Thank you all for helping save this sweet boy’s life. If you are interested in adopting Ghost the first step is to fill out an adoption application here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SJRA/Dog
