February 2024 was a very busy month for Deaf Dogs Rock. Our Deaf Dogs Rock Community sponsored 15 deaf dogs and puppies into special needs rescue in the second month of 2024! Wow what a huge accomplishment! Thank you to every single person who donated in the fourth quarter of 2023 so we can continue to sponsor deaf dogs and puppies into rescue in the first quarter of 2024! You all ROCK!

***Also a big shout out to everyone who donated to our Deaf Dogs Rock Transport Van fundraiser to get our van back on the road just in time for the Spring Rescue Transport season. We so appreciate your kind consideration and support.

It takes a tribe of animal lovers to support Deaf Dogs Rock to continue to carry out our mission of helping one deaf dog at a time. Deaf Dogs Rock spends between $3000 and $5000.00  each month on Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorships!   If you would like to help sponsor a deaf dog out of a kill shelter into the safe arms of rescue, please click here to Donate.

Every single day on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page you will see Rescue posts which we put up for shelters across the country trying to get deaf dogs out of over crowded shelters before their time is up and they are euthanized. Sometimes a deaf dog who is surrendered only has a day or two for the opportunity to be pulled by a reputable foster based rescue so that is why you will see our organizations offer $200-$300 on almost every rescue plea we post up on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page so we can encourage rescues to help a deaf dog in need. Without the financial offer of sponsorships these deaf dogs would surely die within a few days.

The core mission of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program is to set up each deaf dog or puppy for success by sending them into a experienced special needs rescue where they can go into a experienced deaf dog foster homes. The foster homes are committed to training and socializing each deaf dog that comes into their care before they are available for adoption. This way, each foster advocate gets the opportunity to live with the deaf pup for awhile, work with the deaf dog, and accurately evaluate each deaf dog/puppy to make sure the organization makes the very best match for each deaf dog when it comes to finding the right home for that particular deaf dog.

Deaf Dogs Rock works directly with shelters, rescues, private individuals, and breeders to help get each deaf puppy into our Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program and into rescue. By doing so, each deaf pup gets the individual training, vetting, socialization, and TLC to grow up to become a cherished member of society. Deaf Dogs Rock is a judgement free zone and our number one priority will always be to help deaf dogs and puppies get a fresh start and a chance at a great life.

When our rescue partners screen potential new homes for a deaf dog/puppy, each rescue has a specific set of guidelines to follow when considering a new home for example; like checking all references, talking to the applicant’s veterinarian, and performing a thorough home visit to make sure each home is a safe place for a deaf or deaf/blind dog. This is why our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue Sponsorship program is so important to get the deaf dog out of the shelter (or from an individual) and help our partner rescues set up each deaf pup for a successful happy life in their new home. We do this by helping each rescue with vetting expenses so each puppy ends up in a rescue that specifically advocates for them. Our Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program financially sponsors deaf dogs/puppies so each pup can be vaccinated and spay/neutered before they are adopted to a new family. We only work with rescue partners and advocacy organizations who are committed in making sure each deaf pup is spay/neutered before being placed in a new home (unless they are Great Danes or Dalmatians which need to done after 12 months of age).

Our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community sponsored another 15 deaf dogs/pups in February, 2024 which is a huge accomplishment in a recession. So far in 2024 Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 32 deaf pups into rescue.  So far since the beginning of our Rocker Dog/Puppy Program several years ago, Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 1560 deaf dogs into rescue (as of 2/29/24).

Deaf Cockapoo Rigby – Speak Rescue and Sanctuary – MO

Another deaf puppy taken to a vet to be euthanized by the breeder because this puppy isn’t perfect. Meet Rigby the deaf Cockapoo. Thank goodness the vets don’t euthanized healthy deaf puppies upon request. Our friends at Speak Rescue and Sanctuary now have deaf puppy Rigby and he is safe. Rigby will be a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy-Dog Rescue sponsorship program to help Speak with his vetting expenses so they can continue to help deaf dogs in need of rescue.

Elliott – Echo – Corrine and Maddie – Speak Rescue and Sanctuary – MO

With Spring just around the corner we are seeing a lot of deaf puppies being dumped at local shelters across the country or taken to vet clinics to be euthanized because they are deaf and cannot be sold. We see a  lot of this going on in the Puppy Mill states of MO, Ohio and Iowa. Our friends at Speak Rescue and Sanctuary have been extremely busy saving deaf pups who have been surrendered to shelters and vets to be put to sleep for being deaf. All four of these deaf pups will be sponsored into rescue by our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy-Dog Rescue Sponsorship program to help with their vetting. If you have been looking to adopt a deaf puppy, and live in the Midwest be sure to check out Speak Rescue and Sanctuary for deaf dogs and puppies available for adoption.

Snowflake – Dallas TX – Code Red Animal Project

Deaf Dogs Rock put out a rescue plea for deaf dog Snowflake and our friends at Code Red Animal Project tagged and pulled her. When they got to the shelter she was brought out on a stretcher because they believed she was have a reaction to the anesthesia they gave her for her spay surgery at the shelter (seizures can also be caused by oral and topical flea treatments given to unpigmented white dogs at the shelter).

Right now Snowflake is back at the vets office being monitored after  having several more seizures. We will be sending in additional rescue sponsorship funds to help Code Red with  her emergency vetting.

Lily Mae – Speak Rescue and Sanctuary MO

Above: Lily Mae’s freedom ride into rescue

Thank goodness sweet Lily Mae made it into rescue at Speak Rescue and Sanctuary in MO. From Speak St. Louis: Lily Mae, the deaf collie we recently rescued who was found wandering in the rain. Lily went in for a much-needed spa day where they discovered so many awful things. There was duct tape on her chest, a fishing hook in the hair around her tail, and metal shavings in her fur. In addition, she tested positive for ehrlichiosis, a tickborne infectious disease, as well as microfilariae, which are immature heartworms.
Despite everything she’s endured, Lily is silly and sweet and so gorgeous and is just happily obsessed with life! She’s being fostered in the St. Louis area.

Lily Mae is a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy/Dog Rescue Sponsorship fund to help Speak with some of her vetting expenses to help the rescue continue to be able to help deaf and deaf/blind dogs in need of rescue, vetting, foster care and adoption.

Thanks again to all our supporters who continue to support our mission to save one deaf pup at a time. ~ Christina Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock
