Meet adoptable deaf Catahoula mix Fala who is looking for a loving forever  home with someone who will cherish her, become her new best friend and always keep her safe. Fala need to live in a home with no small children or babies because their unpredictability makes her nervous.

From her current caregiver: Fala is an amazing dog. She was born on 6/28/13, and is 6 years old. She is a Catahoula/Australian Shepherd mix. She has 1 blue eye and 1 cracked brown and blue eye.

She has lived with us since she was 3 months old. She is potty trained, well versed in sign language, and was crate trained (although she hasn’t been kenneled in a few years). She can free roam the house for hours and not mess anything up or have an accident. She is an indoor dog, and doesn’t like to be outside for longer than a few hours. She doesn’t bark unless super excited.

She sleeps a lot, loves to sunbathe, and loves belly rubs. She loves people, likes most other dogs (but not when they get sniffy and pushy), and hasn’t been around cats.
She doesn’t like small children. She likes older kids and adults, but not babies/toddlers.

Her ideal family would be laid back, no kids, and plenty of snuggles.

Like most defies she requires a fenced in yard or a leash at all times.

She can get skin rashes, that our vet has recommended monistat 7 for, and works well. She only gets 1 or 2 rashes a year and usually during spring. She doesnt mind an e-collar while it goes away.

She is my baby and I want the best home for her.

I am rehoming her because after trying to make it work for over a year, she just doesn’t like my son and nipped his face back in February. She has no aggressive history before or after, just aversion to little kids.

Fala’s adoption fee is $225.00 and you  must live within a 3.5 hour drive of Brookings SD. If you are interested in adopting Fala please contact Tabitha so she can send you a blank adoption application to be filled out to be considered for adoption.
