Meet adoptable deaf/blind hound mix Emily who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her, teach her new touch cues and always keep her safe.

From her caregiver: This is Emily! She is a beautiful 1 year old hound mix and she was born deaf and blind. That does not hold her back one single bit though! She has become very independent and has a huge self confidence in her regular environment. She knows how to navigate throughout the entire house, get up on the bed, the sofa and to anywhere there is food or people! She also knows how to use the dog door and will go out in the yard and play all by herself or with a friend. She currently lives with 4 other dogs and 2 cats and gets along well with all of them.

Emily isn’t super fond of another 4 legged that “talk” meanly to her, as anyone can understand. She goes for walks but at her own pace of course and for super short distances since the big world can become over stimulating pretty easy. Emily enjoys a short car ride with the chance to put her nose to the wind and when she is done with that, she quietly lays down until the ride is over. Emily is a super sweet, loving and beautiful baby girl and it is imperative that she finds her perfect match.

Emily needs a person/family that has the time, and experience preferably, to work patiently with a dog that is both deaf and blind. She is a very special girl and deserves that perfect special person. Emily gets super excited when new people come in to her home that she doesn’t see on a regular basis so she would love someone to help her learn how to channel that energy and also to introduce some new sensory activities to her to help keep her from being bored. Thank you for checking in on this angel!
