Meet adoptable deaf dog Echo who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her, make daily positive reinforcement training/socialization/enrichment a priority and always keep her safe.
From his rescue advocate: Hi my name is Echo! Why such a unique name? A name that means (of a sound) that is repeated or reverberate after the original sound has stopped. In Greek mythology, Echo was a mountain nymph whose ability to speak was cursed, leaving her able only to repeat the last words spoken to her. While I can speak (and love to), what I can’t do is hear.
Want to know what’s so special about deaf dogs?! You can vacuum and I won’t care! Amazon delivery person knocks on the door, I’m none the wiser. And even better, those 4th of July fireworks, no problem! My love language is treats and making my people happy! Show me a sign to sit, shake, or “come here” and I am happy to oblige. While I am still learning lot’s of tricks and commands, I am loving it!
My favorite place is near my people. I live with two teenagers, and boy, am I excited to see them whenever they are around. Running zoomies in the yard is fun, but what’s more fun is getting back on the couch next to someone who has a good bone for me to chew on. While I’ve only met my foster dog brother and sister briefly, I can’t wait to spend more time with them in the yard and have them show me the ropes (and literally, I love to tug on ropes).
I know I’m special, and would love to meet you and show you what a good girl I am and all the things I’ve learned so far. I’m grateful for SEPR taking me into a home so I could thrive outside of the shelter, because special girls like me deserve a special family!
