Meet adoptable deaf one year old Duckie who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish him, make positive reinforcement training a priority and always keep him safe. He would love to live in a home with a secure fenced in yard.

From his caregiver: We are desperately searching for a home for “Duckie”.

We adopted him about 7 weeks ago and it is now working out. He is a very sweet dog but he is much to strong for us. We are a retired couple and thought we were doing the right thing but we just can’t keep him much longer.

We live on the Boliver Peninsula (tourist town) on the main road and although Duckie is deaf the traffic is too much for him. There is a constant stream of cars, trucks, golf carts, etc passing our home.

We also live in a home on stilts and so we have to take him down 2 flights of stairs every time we go out and it’s becoming very scary for me as he is extremely strong.

He wants to be outside but we can’t leave him out there by himself (he barks & cries when we try to leave him alone) and we can’t stay outside all day with him. He needs a fenced back yard to play in and would do great out in the country,

Duckie does well in his crate. When we go to bed he walks into his crate and sleeps thru the night.

Duckie is also completely housebroken and lets you know (sits by the door) when he needs to go out.

He loves to play fetch and run around in the yard. He loves to sit on the couch and stare out the window and loves being in your lap.

We think he is about 2. We don’t have any other dogs but his former foster had 1 and they got along fine and he was much beloved at the shelter by the dog walkers….

We are willing to donate for his care. It is definitely taking a toll on our mental and physical health.

Duckie’s adoption fee is $200 and you must live within a 2.5 hour drive of Gilchrist Texas to be considered for adoption. If you are interested in meeting Duckie, please email: schreiber5900@gmail.com
