Meet adoptable deaf puppy Dottie (DOB 10-5-24) who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who works from home or who is retired, someone who will cherish her, make daily positive reinforcement training/enrichment/structure a priority, and always keep her safe.

From her advocate: Dottie is a beautiful, soulful pup who experiences the world a little differently — she may not hear sounds, but she feels life with her whole heart. Fireworks, thunderstorms, or loud trucks don’t faze her one bit. Instead, she focuses on you: your hands, your body language, your energy. She’s already learning hand signals and is eager to please.

This affectionate girl is playful and fun-loving, but she also has an “old soul” sweetness that shines when she snuggles close or greets you with her signature wiggly hello. She enjoys making new dog friends (especially when they’re respectful playmates) and is a big fan of people, treats, and attention.

Dottie’s journey hasn’t been without challenges — she’s been returned once due to separation anxiety and difficulty understanding another dog’s social cues. With time, training, and a little extra patience, she’s made progress on her anxiety, especially with the help of medication and structure. Because of this, Dottie will thrive in a home where her family is around more often than not and willing to continue helping her build confidence when left alone. She could do well with another dog if they’re tolerant and matched carefully, but she’d also be perfectly happy soaking up all the love as your one and only.

The family Dottie is dreaming of will have gentle hands, a soft heart, and a willingness to keep teaching her in a way that makes her feel safe and understood. In return, she promises endless kisses, sound sleep beside you, and unconditional devotion.
