Meet sweet adoptable deaf, five year old cocker spaniel Derby who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish him, become his new best friend and always keep him safe.

From his rescue advocate: Derby is a handsome, classic cocker spaniel, five years old and 27 pounds. He is neutered, fully vetted, housebroken, and gentle.
Derby endured a tragic life for a while, but you can give his story a happy ending.
Derby’s former owners deliberately failed to provide him with necessary medical care and as a result, he endured terribly painful ear infections, which went untreated for years.

Friends of All Critters At Shelters (FOACAS) rescue saved him and arranged for surgery to remove his ear canals. The surgery eliminated all of Derby’s pain, but left him unable to hear. However, he is incredibly motivated, responsive, and smart. He is responsive to hand cues and treats. When he trusts you he is a steadfast, best friend who seeks affection. He currently lives with other dogs and enjoys playing with them.
Derby will size you up, but he warms up quickly. So many people failed him in the past, he is understandably cautious. But usually within 15 minutes he’ll be leaning against your knees, looking for petting and scratches.
Derby takes a medicated bath once a week for dandruff control. That is the extent of his care.
If you demand a lap dog, Derby is not that guy. Derby is a real dog who likes to walk and play, smell the roses, and drive around with you.
