Three weeks ago I kept getting links sent to me on Facebook that featured an older deaf dog named Rusty at the Granville County Animal Shelter. They had over 600 shares on Rusty’s photo and the rescue who committed to him fell through which meant his life was in danger. Not only was he a senior dog, but he was deaf and Heartworm+. Many rescues don’t want to deal with a senior dog let alone a deaf senior dog who is HW+ so I went on the thread and offered a $200.00 donation directly from Deaf Dogs Rock if a rescue would commit to Rusty.

Finally last week Triangle Pets Alive a 501(c) rescue pulled him. I don’t think their directer realized our offer was out there for a few weeks so when Mereth Hoffman contacted me this week explaining to me she had just discovered our offer, I was only to happy to make a payment to the Bayleaf Veterinary Hospital in Raleigh NC who will be starting Rusty’s Heartworm treatment next week.

The above photo was the picture of Rusty that had made the rounds on Facebook for several weeks. We are just beyond thrilled that Triangle Pets Alive out of Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, NC made the commitment to pull him and get him healthy again. Thank you so much Triangle Pets Alive and Mereth Hoffman for getting Rusty to safety. We think you all totally ROCK!

Below is the photo of Rusty’s “freedom ride” out of the Granville County Animal Shelter.

If it wasn’t for the generosity of our Deaf Dogs Rock community, Chris and I would not be able to reach out to rescues to cover some of the costs of pulling deaf dogs in need of medical attention and rescue.

Thank you so much for all your support. According to my deaf dogs Nitro, Bud, my husband Chris, and I, you all totally ROCK!
