I received a adoption listing to list a cute puppy up for adoption from a student named Walker Montgomery who took the puppy into his home to help the puppy Once the puppy was discovered to be deaf and the student realized he did not have time for a deaf puppy he submitted an adoption listing on Deaf Dogs Rock so the puppy could be listed available for adoption. Instead of listing the puppy, I sent Walker a message stating I would rather have Deaf Dogs Rock sponsor the puppy into rescue where all potential adoptive families could be thoroughly screened and also have the puppy fully vetted. He agreed and I put him in direct contact with contact with Erika the Director of Green Dogs Unleashed Rescue here in Virginia.
Photos above. Our friend and fellow deaf dog guardian Kim Gregory did the Wytheville to Roanoke Leg of the transport (thanks Kim!).
Look how little Lord Patchington was when we first got his listing (see photo above) and then look how much he had grown in like 2-3 weeks time.
Photo Below – 3 weeks later – He was much bigger than I expected!
Erika and Walker made arrangements for transport to be done a couple of weeks down the road. This way it gave Walker time to get the puppies shots up to date and get Patch vetted before his transport to GDU. As luck would have it Deaf Dogs Rock was also part of Lord Patchington’s transport team. The transport went smoothly and I was thrilled to finally get to meet one of our sponsored deaf puppies going to rescue. I stuffed a yummy Kong for Patch to enjoy on his transport on our DDR Transport vehicle from Roanoke VA to Staunton, Va. He was a perfect passenger.
A big shout out to Walker for reaching out to Deaf Dogs Rock and being Patch’s advocate. A big thank you to Highway Heroes Transport Rescue Team who always do an amazing job. Thanks to my friend Kim for doing one of the transport legs and as always a big thanks to Erika and her Green Dogs Unleashed Team for taking Lord Patchington into rescue. You all ROCK.
It’s because of our DDR Supporters we can help out with deaf puppies like Patch and get him to the safety of a rescue so thank you, thank you, thank you for your kind consideration and generous support of our mission to save ‘one deaf dog at a time’.
