We had several people from all over the country send me an on-line advertisement for a free deaf puppy in North Dakota.  I know with Deaf Dogs Rock being so darn far away it would be a long shot to get this little deaf girl Lily to safety. I could not get her off my mind and then I remembered my deaf friend Jamie Menge lives in North Dakota. I wondered if I sent a plea to Jamie if she could help us out in getting Lily to safety. We don’t have any rescue partners in ND but since she works for a Vet maybe she would  be able to help out.  It was right before Christmas and I sent her a message with a photo of Lily to pull on her heart strings. Well it worked!

God Bless Jamie because as soon as she received my message, she talked to her kids and they went on a rescue mission to get Lily before she was taken to a kill shelter! They jumped in their big truck and went on a road trip to go get sweet Lily. As soon as Jamie got back home with Lily and put photos of her up on our Facebook Wall she had two different deaf people interested in adopting her. I love the idea of a deaf dog being loved and cherished by a person who can understand some of the challenges a little deaf puppy faces. Jamie said her friend Elizabeth had a beautiful daughter and Lily would fit right in with their family.

Jamie worked on basic training with Lily and taught her many sign commands before she left for her new home. Jamie loaded up the kids the following week and they all drove from their home in Beulah, ND all the way to Fargo, ND to deliver Lily to her new family. Lily truly won the “dog lottery” with her very own  family who adores her.

I became FB friends with Lily’s new mommy Elizabeth and I love all the great “ear shots” (Lily has the best ears EVER) of Lilly. She is truly loved and cherished.

Because of the support of many of our Deaf Dogs Rock followers we were able to reimburse Jamie for all her travel expenses for transport (going to pick up Lily and then deliver her to her new home in Fargo). When we can help with rescue, transport, and medical costs when it comes to saving deaf dogs, then we can get more deaf dogs into safe and loving homes.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for believing and supporting our mission to save one deaf dog at a time. According to my deaf dogs Nitro, Bud, (and Lily), you all totally ROCK!
