Last week Deaf Dogs Rock had received several requests via email to sponsor a deaf puppy into rescue from Murfeesboro, TN here to Roanoke, VA. I asked for additional photos because the photo they sent out the first time was not clear. I wanted more info on him and when I got his new photos, I told the Ann and Tammy the ladies trying to get him to safety we would sponsor him into Angels of Assisi Rescue here in Roanoke.
Wow, you talk about Rescue Warrior Women! These ladies got the puppy pulled, got him neutered, and even had him in a temporary foster care until they could get him on his way to Virginia. They also put together an emergency transport to get him here to Roanoke VA. A big shout out to the Rescue Warrior Women Tammy Woods, Ann Cox, Bobbie Wiggins and to all the transport drivers (men and women) for taking the time out of your busy schedule to help a little deaf puppy get to safety! According to my deaf dogs Nitro, Bud and deaf puppy Scout, you all totally ROCK!
Scout chilling in his temporary foster home the night before his emergency transport here to Virginia. As you can see he LOVES children!
This was Leg 6 of the transport (the final leg) and Kelly and Joseph were just wonderful with Scout and it was a pleasure meeting them!
When Scout the deaf Catahoula puppy landed here in Roanoke, what I discovered is he is just about the coolest Catahoula puppy I have ever met. We brought him home to the Deaf Dogs Rock Headquarters for a few days so he could be around our crazy group of dogs and have lots of play dates and time to rest. He was “chillin like a villain” like he knew he was totally safe.

Scout and I also attended the Petsmart Adoption weekend at our local Valleyview Petsmart. Scout was a big hit for adults and children alike. He just wiggled up to everyone who would say hi to him. After a couple of hours of Scout and I visiting with people, I sat down on the floor with Scout to have some fun. At first we played a few scent games where he had to pick which hand the treat was in by putting his paw on the right hand. Once he got the hang of the scent game, it was an easy transition to teach him the “high five” trick. He is such a fast study! He got the “high five” trick down in less then 10 minutes!
We also invited local Deaf Catahoula dog Jack and his family to stop by Petsmart so they could meet deaf puppy Scout because I wanted them to see how much Scout is like their Jack (in every way possible). I also wanted to talk to them about fostering Scout on the weekends and maybe over Thanksgiving Holiday. They fell in love with Scout and agreed to do a part-time foster so Scout could get breaks from being in the shelter all the time.
When Jack and Scout got over their introductions, all they wanted to do was play but since they were both on leashes in the middle of a Petsmart they settled for taking a couple of laps around the store together.
