It always breaks our hearts to see a senior dog dumped at a rural shelter which pretty much sentences the dog to death. Add the fact that the old dog is also deaf and blind and if she is lucky, she may have bout a 1% chance of making it out of a rural shelter. Unfortunately this is the reality of the situation when it comes to deaf and deaf/blind shelter dogs unless of course the Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee gets word of a senior deaf/visually impaired boston terrier sitting at a country shelter.
Meet sweet Emma. She is being fostered by Donna Clark with the Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee. As you can see from the photos Emma had a huge cancerous tumor on her left leg. The rescue has recently had the tumor removed but the pathology report came back a positive for mast cells. Emma can still see some things which is good.
Emma will need more surgery to try to clean up the margins of the mast cells (they need to be clear margins) so Deaf Dogs Rock has sent in a Deaf Dogs Rock financial sponsorship to help with Emma’s vet bills.
Donna reports to DDR that even after all of the struggles Emma has faced, she is still a perfect little lady. She will talk to Donna and let her know when she needs to go outside to go potty.
A big shout out to Donna and the Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee for saving Emma. According to my deaf boston Bowie, the Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee (and Donna) totally ROCKS!
